With Hessian ID and tech nerf - just take make the ships first then change the ID to FL one - do some hessian bribes, then mission to get the IFF add hessian ID. Have fun.

The next question is "is there any way not to have a 90% nerf on a Hessian Bergelmir?"
The answer is, likely as not, no: not unless you get a FL IDd character, at which point the power output should be 75%. A hessian tag wouldnt change anything, but you could probably RP a hessian by using the tag and acting like one. Even 75% is a pretty noticeable difference on a ship such as the Bergelmir, but I've found it to be manageable on fighters.
You're not obliged to ask for tech. I also doubt the AGS will turn around and shoot you, unless they also want to potentially shoot half the server.
