Basically as title. You come upon a player base built by a hostile group to you. Do you have to RP before firing at it? After all it cannot answer back, or move. Plus it will fire on you as soon as in range right?
Now for example: My lib dread finds a rheinland naval base in lets say Bering. Can i just come to 4K range and start firing mortars at it even if a RM fighter is near by? after all i am shooting base, not the RM.
And as such does the RM still need to RP before firing on me to defend said base?
Just some questions bouncing around in me head.

Bases don't have IFFs, only base Administrators can change base "diplomacy". At the start, all bases are neutral. So, you wouldn't know if it's Rheinland base unless its infocard says so or it is guarded by Rheinland law enforcers.

I can't imagine we're going to be expected to rp with inanimate objects. :/
The defending question is a little trickier, but it should be fine for a player to defend their base....

If there's a player nearby it's only logical to RP before you shoot. If noone's around, noone bothers.

The red/green/neutral is defined by the defence mode set and the whitelist of allies. So as has been said, you wouldn't know.
