Just curious to see if anyone actually uses it.
Me, I don't. I'd give it a try if the view wasnt so.....Crap-Tastic. Which i mean in the nicest way. It's just so bland. I expected like a bunch of indicators sort of like. A small holigraphic form of your ship showing where you've taken damage(like when you select another players ship in your group). And for the energy, Shield power, And hull integrity to be moved to a more natural/comfortable position.

Generally your turning radius is limited when you're in cockpit view.
That being said I didn't fly out of cockpit view for my first several months in disco. Largely because I wasn't "comfortable" with third person and didn't really have a firm grasp of the tactical advantages it presented (this being back when I initiated my first combat engagement by blowing myself up with nova torps about 10k from the fight and similar shows of skill).
Ever since I switched to third person sitting in cockpit view has become something of a indulgence which I rarely partake in due to the general meh of cockpits. Though it's fun in the Junker Freighter and Crow!

And how are the crow and Freighter Different than all the others?

I use it for trading in a Shire. Makes hitting lanes easier, due to where the Shire's activation point is.

Everybody uses it for mining. I also use it for transports, since it makes docking with tradelanes and gates much easier.
Sometimes I will use it in a gunboat or cruiser. Some ships require you to keep the nose pointed at the target for maximum effectiveness, and cockpit view forces you to do that.

Oh, Yeah i did use it for mining when i was in the IMG.
And i was unaware of the Nose-effectiveness thing. Perhaps It's more useful than i thought.

I use cockpit whenever I'm flying anything other than a fighter or bomber. If fighting starts, turret view & steering comes on, else, it's jus' me sittin' in the cockpit.

The Crow flies like a bat out of hell and it's really fun to fly in cockpit mode.

You can turn off the cockpit in 'Options' and it does what it says on the tin, best for mining IMO.
I have never used cockpit turned on, it just gets in the way for what I am trying to see...
