Multiple Freelancers - RedEclipse - 04-14-2012
As title says. In previous betas we was able to run multiple Freelancers in one Windows account. For now, this feature was disabled.
I've contacted with Cannon, he's told me it's was disabled and he's not decided yet - bring it back or not.
So, I started this topic with poll - do you like to see this feature back or not? It's was so useful to transfer things.
Let's help Cannon to decide:)

It certainly was useful for quick equipment transfers, and I would love to have it back for that purpose. Unfortunately, on the third page of this thread on the matter, Cannon said the following:

Obviously it's open to abuse but lets face it abusers will always find other ways.
Personally I found it extremely useful and safe for equipment transfer.
The alternative is to pull out another laptop.

I bet a lot of people will be tempted to multibox with that feature.
For transfers you can always ask a friend/factionmember or a trustable person on the server to help you out.

Thing is - not all servers are GC, and not all servers have the same rules regarding multi-boxing.
I do have three computers available that I can play Discovery on at any one time - so it doesn't bother me one way or the other in one respect - if I actually wanted to multi-box on here, I could. Or make my own equipment transfers, or whatever.
Thing is, I like to do some gaming while I have projects running on my laser, since a lot of times it can take 30 - 50 minutes for it to cut everything out. And I also have characters on DUSA, which ALLOWS multi-boxing. Which is about perfect for me to get a couple of Sirius trade routes done. And it's a lot easier to only have one computer going with multiple windows making my runs from Bretonia to Rhienland with one ship while another ship goes from Crete to New Tokyo.
And that's all down in the basement, which means if I do want to move things on GC, I have to haul my laptop down to the basement with me. Not that big of an inconvenience, but still an annoyance.
So yeah, bring it back.

I've got multiple computers that can run Freelancer, but most of the time they are powered off or doing something else. Very easy to just alt-tab and start another for swapping equipment, otherwise I have to get another system going which can take a long time.
I'm not able to do more than one complicated task at once anyway. Just moving two ships close to each other has resulted in one of them drifting into a planet while I'm fighting to get the other one into a trade lane.

It is allowed on some servers, but not GC. Here is a guide on how to make it work again:

Only use it on those servers though, or you will get sanctioned like any other rule violation on the GC server.
