Hello everyone!
I have found your mod last month, and tried it with my friends on our own server via Hamachi, using Disco 4.85, running it without any big problem. Last week, I found Disco wiki, the server commands, the mining tools and the base construction. Neither the server commands nor the mining tools worked on my 4.85 server, so I decided to try to update to 4.86.
I followed the instructions, fully uninstalling Ioncross, FLMM and Freelancer and installed freelancer v1.1 with Disco 4.86. I had a little error during install, integrity check failed on story_sounds.ini, but I could continue with the install. The game itself started without problem, but the server refuse to launch. The server window appear for about 1/10 second and dissapear. I tried re-installing Disco 4.86 without the 1.1 FLpatch, no change. I tried to install Ioncross, I can launch the server, but it runs strangely, missing parts of the game, i.e. Connecticut Jump Hole, Ships... And i can't modify the settings in Ioncross when the server is running.
I decided to try on another computer, 3 in fact. The first server was running on an Eeebox under XP, I tried on another computer under XP and 2 under Seven, exactly the same dissapearing server screen. I searched on the forum but didn't found anything on that problem.
Can someone help me, please?

By the time I had noticed that you sent a message in #the-starport you quit by closing the page (lol, IRC web clients).
Don't bother with IONCROSS, that software is outdated and has been replaced. Instead, see DS Account Manager.
The server commands are implemented in FLHook, which 4.85 did not include (you had to download it from TSP Forge). 4.86 does include it, however.
Discovery includes the 1.1 patch, so don't install it. Always install mods on a completely fresh copy of Freelancer.
Connecticut jump hole was removed in 4.86.

Also with 4.86, don't forget to run flserver.exe from the "\Discovery Freelancer 4.86.0\exe" folder. Not the one in standard \Microsoft Games install.
Where is this folder? On Vista and Win7:
C:\Users\<mah name>\AppData\Local\Discovery Freelancer 4.86.0
XP:
Ahh... dunno. Just search your C: drive, it'll turn up.

After about 1 hour of test with Alex, who I want to thanks again for his patience, it seems that the problem is ... French version.... The hardest part will be to find an english version.
Legal question : do I have the right to dl an english version of the game if I already own a french version?
Edit 1 : Managed to find an english version, installed it with discovery 4.86... On the 7 computer, nothing new, server crashing without placing anything in the log file, I can only see the server window fot 0.1 second... Trying on the xp computer...
Edit 2 : Same on the XP computer, I tried installing IonCross, which was able to launch the server on my first try. And then, surprise, using IonCross, Discovery Server launches well, with FLHook running! Just have to start DSAM and close IonCross, and everything runs fine. Tried /restart, ok, the new ships are presents...
I think I'll use the server that way!

Game crashing to desktop is sometimes caused by the game not correctly recognising your graphic card.
Try checking your flconfigdatabase.txt file

oops, sorry, didn't read your post closely enough.
1) after you install 4.86 make sure you also install update 5...this includes latest version of flhook
2) Don't use IONCROSS, use DSProcess Manager and make sure it's configured to point at the discovery 4.86 flserver.exe and not the original.
3) as far as I know, you still need to download the "minecontrol' flhook plugin and unzip it into the exe\flhook_plugins folder to enable the mining stuff
4) use DSAccount Manager to manipulate your characters (after they're created)

Nope. It's there already. Minecontrol.cfg. You might need to download the minecontrol plugin if you want a minecontrolsetup.exe but you have to compile it yourself using C#, I believe.
