Swearing Clarification - chovynz - 04-29-2008 Hi. Just wanted some clearing up. I've been using "Goram" as a "swearword" ingame and on the forums. It's a little habit I've picked up from watching Serenity. Is this allowed? Swearing Clarification - timmychen - 04-29-2008 I don't know what it means, but is it a swear in another language? If so, then no, it's not allowed. Swearing Clarification - chovynz - 04-29-2008 As far as I'm aware it's a nonsense word. But I've also heard that it's chinese. Could someone confirm this? Swearing Clarification - Boss - 04-29-2008 Well...Seeing as in the show "Firefly" it is slang for "God d---", I'd reccomend you not... Swearing Clarification - timmychen - 04-29-2008 Well, I've heard that using the words "hell" and "damn" were acceptable as long as they weren't directed at any one person/group, appropriate for RP (common sense). Example: "What the hell is going on here?" - Okay "(after dying) WHAT THE HELL???" - Not okay "Damnit, me ship be burnin'!" - Okay "Damn you!" - Not okay Also in question is the usage of "God", "Jesus", and etc. Clarification? Swearing Clarification - Riley Mackenzie - 04-29-2008 'Goram' is perfectly acceptable because it's not a real swear word also, I peronally, like to use the word 'smeg' from Red Dwarf:P @Poo: 'Goram' was inventeted to replace 'g*d*a*n' in the show Nyung mentioned ::edit:: boss beat me to the punch:Pbut, imho, if it's in a characters nature to swear, then there is absolutely nothing wrong w/ saying 'goram'. reguardless of what it replaces, it's not an offensive word:: Swearing Clarification - DarkSaber - 04-29-2008 I agree, surely part of RP should be to come with non-swearing ways of swearing? I mean why shouldn't you be able to use a fictional swearword from a fictional show? I use smeg as well, as well as 'Drokk' from the Judge Dredd comics. Swearing Clarification - chovynz - 04-29-2008 Quote:@Poo: 'Goram' was inventeted to replace 'g*d*a*n' in the show Nyung mentioned I did not know that. Thank you sir. I'll be modifying my language. Swearing Clarification - timmychen - 04-29-2008 ' Wrote:'Goram' is perfectly acceptable because it's not a real swear word Oh. Then in my books, it's acceptable as well. And no, it's not Chinese. :P Swearing Clarification - Fletcher - 04-29-2008 While I'm here and so is the topic, is 'Frack' accepted since its used in Battlestar Galactica? I try to say Darn all the time, more bang that Damn now.;) |
