Jayson Berger - Master Trader - cmfalconer - 05-19-2008 Bio One of the most independent people you’d meet, Jayson Berger walked the fine line of law and order. Owing allegiance to no one, Jayson started out as a deck-hand on a small BMM Clydesdale from the Dublin system that was constantly being attacked by the Mollies. Jayson learned from that short experience on the freighter he wanted to be master of his own destiny, not someone else’s lackey. Born in the Leeds system, Jayson was brought up on stations belonging to BMM. The company moved Jayson’s parents around a lot, finally placing them on Graves station in the dangerously disputed system of Dublin. Jayson’s formative years were spent around the influence of strife between BMM and the Mollies, who were desperately fighting for their own system’s independence from Bretonia. Jayson saved the meager salary he received working on the freighter, and added to it what he made on the side-deals he was allowed by the captain of the freighter. Jayson had a mind for numbers, and trading commodities was what he fell in love with. He struck a deal with the captain of the vessel to be able to trade a small amount of cargo each trip they made, and if the trade was enough, the captain would make small side-trips to furnish Jayson’s trips. Soon the captain was following Jayson’s advice on where to make his port-of-call, and Jayson was soon making more money trading than working. On a trip to New London, Jayson parted company with the captain of the BMM Clydesdale, and bought his own. Jayson was on his way to realizing his dream of being his own captain. Jayson’s knowledge of the Sirius economy grew exponentially in the next several months. He made it a point to haul the highest-paying commodities he could to wherever he could. Soon he was in command of his own transport, then a train. The larger the vessel, the more credits Jayson made. He fairly raked it in. Jayson decided that after he’d bought his train, it was time to name his ships. After some thought to it, and a little research, he named his ship the Adler.Jung, Rheinlandish for Young Eagle, because of his soaring spirit and independence. Also of import to Jayson was the well being of those he employed and those he dealt with. Jayson quickly received the reputation of being a fair employer and businessman, no matter what part of Sirius he traveled. It was also known that Mr. Berger would not affiliate himself with one corporation or House; he did not want to be tied down, and neither did the crew he employed. So it was that Jayson’s fortune grew and grew. He transferred the nameplate to many ships as he succeeded, from Trains to Large Transports, from the BorderWorld Transport to the Advanced Train. Jayson bought himself a Spatial from the IMG as his personal ship, and with his fortunes growing, decided to take the ship as his exploration vessel, as the Advanced Train wasn’t well suited for the job. Jayson flew the christened Adler.Pioneer throughout Sirius, stopping everywhere he could to learn of the best deals and people. It is this way he discovered the Edge Worlds and it’s citizens. Both the Outcasts and Corsairs, along with the huge population of Zoners in the Edge Worlds, showed Jayson another side of Sirius that was not part of the tradelaned inner Houses. So now Jayson plies the lanes and the edge worlds, giving up his sturdy Advanced Train for the smaller, more fragile, and more maneuverable Whale transport. He and his small crew sail the spaces looking for the next deal, and also for the next chance to do some good. |
