I just took a 74k mission on my blood dragon bomber from Kyoto. That's about the highest paying mission I've been able to get from there so far.

By the time I got back to kyoto after having finished said mission, I had to spend nearly 50k to restock mines, countermeasures, torpedoes, and cruise disruptors. So in total I only made around 25-30k tops for a mission that took around 15 minutes, when a trader doing a standard route would have made millions in that time frame. I'm not using any weakling ship either, bombers are up there with the VHF's...

Missions are pointless for anything but rep right now. It's ridiculous that a fighter or bomber pilot barely makes enough money back for repairs and ammo after doing the top missions available at his base - how is that pilot ever supposed to afford improvements for his ship?

Not to mention that most NPC's regenerate hull faster than you can bring them down with anything short of class 9 guns or codenames, these missions take forever to complete because of the infinite regen alone.

I know it isnt a big top concern for anyone, but it needs to get fixed. Missions should be paying 5-10 times what they do now for the amount of effort they take compared to the reward. Not everyone has the time to trade for hours on end even if it does get you rich - I get a half an hour to an hour at a time between RL crap to play here, and I'd really prefer to spend it RP'ing and doing something enoyable rather than hitting F3 like a mindless dolt on a trade route for 30 minutes.

I agree with you that the payment should be more higher.
But npc's do not regenerate infinitely, they use bots/bats and after a while they're out of it.
But for a lot of missions there should be really more payment.
As i started to play Disco, it was a pain to earn money.
But if you wanna have much money you MUST trade;)

On the other hand, my Lane Hacker was taking missions with her Stiletto that had nearly $70k payout, for a simple base elimination in Cortez. I was in, I was out, I was paid. When they required me to kill the ships, that was another $7k for every Bounty Hunter.

That said, I do agree that there are problems, and have mentioned it before. It's worse for the lawfuls, as far as I can tell, since they don't have the really high-paying options for ditching their captured pilots. Some of us are just lucky and have the easy options.


And yes, the regeneration needs some serious reductions. Also, the ships need to be only using weapons that the ship actually can! I'm tired of seeing Startrackers with Class 7 Flashpoints...

I must agree with the higher reward payment thing, I have traded a lot but I enjoy doing missions as my character would in RP.

The reward to effort ratio certainly needs another looking at!

It gets discouraging when your bounty hunter, merc or freelancer does high profile jobs but gets minimum wage... proffessionals should get paid appropriately!

Then again... maybe I've been taking el cheapo missions...

It is fun doing a mission as a group though, RP is definitely enhanced.

Now if the reward could just get enhanced a little..heh heh

This is probably one of the main reasons why I don't fly anything smaller than a gunship on this server: Low mission rewards but high risk. It's bad enough that the upper tier npcs are armored and regen and rarely miss, but when an Osiris or 4 joins in the fun, it's an uphill battle. When I finally got the money scraped together for a gunship, I said hasta la vista to my VHF and never went back.

On the other hand, most players need an incentive to trade, so trading should be more profitable. Trading, for the most part, is boring and time-consuming drudge work. Sometimes it's fun to trade in pure, unadulterated rp-mode (i.e. running a rp trade route that yields low profit), but most of the time people trade with the intention of getting a maximum profit on their run. Armor, munitions, weapons and ship purchases demand a medium to large investment.

I should quickly add that this kind of "power trading" isn't necessary in conflict with good rp. RL comes first (at least it should), which means many of us have to optimize our game time. After some research and asking some of the veteran players, anyone should be able to find a route that yields good returns but is within the realm of plausible rp for their character.

Disco needs traders to maintain the atmosphere of reality. A server full of combat ships is a pretty unrealistic and frankly boring situation. Been there, done that.

I agree that mission payments should be raised, but not to the point to where trading becomes a fairly pointless exercise. I'd say a top level mission could be 950k - 1mil. That sounds like a boatload of money for a mission, but such missions would be somewhat rare. All other mission payments could be raised accordingly, say +100k - +150k.

Trading has become a repetitive process that is about as fun as being an English speaking kid in a creole speaking church in the middle of summer *flashback* .... *sobs* Either way it has no soul or fun after a while. I have to watch tv just t keep from falling asleep while doing my runs. We need something new

This man is very correct!

Trading in a convoy is great fun, four or five Pirate Transports have almost as much punch as the same number of gunboats.

All the better if some enemies happen to come upon you, gives a little action to rival boring, repetitive trading on your own!
