I've noticed that npc's can easily disrupt a BH gunship and a zoner destroyer, but not an adv. train or praefect cruiser.

Shurely shome mishtake?

It's based on the location of the "Engine" hardpoint. The two ships you mentioned, are quite small and the engines are at the back...

The Train's engines are at the front. So it'll avoid many hits from the back.

No idea about the Praefect, as the engines are at the back of that... Maybe the angle of the CD hit was incorrect (for a clean disrupt).

Cruise Disruptors - Fletcher - 05-25-2008

Maybe the 'disrupt' range of the missile's explosion is too small for trains. Think of it in this analogy.

A stinger (police use to puncture tires) can't exactly stop a freight train.

But it is odd that the Zoner destroyer and BHG Gunship are still affected. Just use them countermeasures ^_^

Train Cruise Disruptors can disrupt practically every ship in the game. The other cruise disruptors? Useless pieces of junk...

NPCs use wasps, so you won't get disrupted on long/large ships (not 100% of the time).

Cruise Disruptors - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 05-25-2008

ugh...So Reinforced Disruptor is a complete waste of money?!?

Cruise Disruptors - McNeo - 05-25-2008

Mosquitos and Hornets aren't useless if you accept that they cant CD large craft and instead use them as a support weapon. Then they become the thing that may mean death, or loss of guns.

Also, Train CDs do not stop the Zoner Juggernaut, Rheinland Battleship, Kusari Dreadnought or any other of the very very large battleships...

Any CD hitting a train on the nose instead of the tail will distrupt it aswell...

Praefect has engines on the wings aswell as the centre. Maybe the distruption radius has to encompass all of the engine hardpoints... its an idea...

The reinforced CD is a waste of money if you only want it to CD things. Of course, you trade CDing ability for the fact that it wont fall off after a few explosions...

Cruise Disruptors - AdamantineFist - 05-25-2008

Heh, my BW transport cannot be disrupted by NPCs unless they're in front of it. Always a nice feature.;)

Cruise Disruptors - Tenacity - 05-25-2008

Something really needs to be done about the train CD's though.

Basically, on my blood dragon bomber, I have to use a mosquito disruptor or something equivalent. Such a disruptor is only capable of stopping train/transport class ships a fraction of the time (meaning, I MIGHT get one disrupt out of 50 missiles fired), and it's essentially useless in trying to stop the traders that use chugoku as a highway.

Problem is, if I switch to a train disruptor in order to stop those pilots, every time I shoot one off both my home base (kyoto) as well as all my allied dragon NPC's turn red and start shooting at me.

NPC's really need to disregard cruise disruptor shots as hostile acts.

Cruise Disruptors - X-Lancer - 06-06-2008

CD's blast radius have to cover the whole ship's hitbox in order to let the ship stop..

Cruise Disruptors - Oniros - 06-13-2008

Can i suggest to offer an alternative to the Train CD by increasing the blast radius to 100m for Wasp/Hornet and 200m for the Reinforced and the Mosquito ? I don't know how could be the efficiency to Disrupt large ships but it might be better than the actual 90% Train CD mounted.

It will give to the lawful forces a useful CD without the efficiency of the Train used for Piracy, but able to activate a mine field dropped.
