Defectors - DarthCloakedGuy - 05-25-2008 What about defectors who switch sides in a conflict? Can they keep the ship of their original faction (which they would have 'stolen' from them)? I had planned on making an Outcast character who was an Outcast solely because of his Cardamine addiction, but personally despised his peers, who then defects with a cargo bay full of Carbamine to Cryer Pharmecuticals to help them develop a synthetic, non-addicting version of Cardamine to free himself from his addiction. Keeping with his former-Outcast-heritage, I was planning for him to keep a Titan/Sabre. What is the policy here? Is this a "Yes, if you roleplay it, but the Outcasts will want yout head on a platter" or a "No, this is too badly against the rules"? === EDIT === I probably should have put this in the Rules board, sorry. Defectors - sovereign - 05-25-2008 AAAHG!!! No Titan! Other than that, the Sabre is a Borderworlds VHF, not an Outcast one. So it's fine, you can buy it on Zoner bases... Defectors can usually work *if* you RP it well. That usually includes forums. And try to coordinate with the appropriate player factions, it looks better than an "I want a Wrath for my LWB". Speaking of such, check out Zapp's Wesley Richter story. Defectors - timmychen - 05-25-2008 Outcasts can't use Titans.;) And no, when you defect, you cannot keep your ship if the ship conflicts with your character's new faction (or "side"), Defectors - Thexare - 05-25-2008 ' Wrote:Other than that, the Sabre is a Borderworlds VHF, not an Outcast one. Now, maybe that'll be changed in 4.85, but until then... the only base not allied to the Outcasts that sells it is a Bundschuh base. Well, which one then? I'm hearing two different answers here. Defectors - Jinx - 05-25-2008 think of it in a logical way. - in a roleplaying way... - assuming you ran with your sabre ( which is OK ) - but the ship gets damaged every now and then. - sadly though the technicians cannot fix it, cause they don t know much about that kind of ship. so your ship will fall apart slowly but steadily. - of course you can argue that you can allways find a part here and a part there, and maybe someone that knows how to fix it. - but generally, its not really possible. to RP that means not to repair it anymore ( or maybe only repair those parts that are not specificly outcast ) that means a lot of self control - cause there is hardly anyone watching you if you are deciding to repair everything. to make things easier, one should rather think of switching the ship entirely - cause you can allways argue like that: when you ran from the outcasts, they won t be too happy about it - and maybe ( who knows ) they ll send someone after you - so you cannot spill secrets. - with that looming over you - its advisable to change the name, the ship and make up a fake char history anyway. - cause..... as long as they can track you down, you are in danger. Defectors - Zapp - 05-25-2008 Quote:And no, when you defect, you cannot keep your ship if the ship conflicts with your character's new faction (or "side"), Ahem. *points at Wesley Richter link in sig* A good example of an RP with a RM defector to the LWB, and I haven't gotten yelled at. Yet. Defectors - mjolnir - 05-25-2008 I think you should switch first time your ship gets destroyed... Defectors - Zapp - 05-25-2008 Sorry for the semi-double post, but to answer Mjolnr (as I think this is a stab at me >.>), I have a case where he got shot down and it explains what happened. Kind of. Defectors - tfmachad - 05-25-2008 Jack Archer played the deserter role quite well. He quit RM in the middle of a fight, firing back at our ships, and after switched ships after being destroyed a couple of days afterwards. |
