Keyloggers - Tenacity - 05-28-2008 Ok, so I just clicked on what is most likely a keylogger link. For those who dont know, keylogger links are websites that put keyloggers onto your computer, basically spyware, that can record log-in usernames and passwords and send them back to someone. This is a bad thing, because it means I cant log onto myspace or WoW right now, or my email... or anything else, without risking the passwords getting out to someone else who has ill intents. I use firefox which normally blocks this kind of thing, but I'm not sure it did this time. I have a severely outdated version of Trend Micro PC-cillin, probably hasnt gotten updates in over a year and i have no subscription so I cant update it anymore. I ran a virus scan with it, and it's about 70% done, nothing found so far. So what I need is some advice on where to download 'free' programs that can scan my computer for me, and make sure I didnt get that keylogger downloaded. Keyloggers - ghostcat - 05-28-2008 Try AVG free, you don't have to pay anything and it's highly rated. Just google it. Keyloggers - Fletcher - 05-28-2008 Also recommend spyware Search and Destroy. Keyloggers - Clayph - 05-28-2008 ' Wrote:Also recommend spyware Search and Destroy. You recommend spyware? :laugh:I would recommend malware or adware! Anyway.. Try NOD32.. Pretty damn good antivirus.. Keyloggers - song - 05-28-2008 Avast! does a very good job and is free. Keyloggers - Mere_Mortal - 05-28-2008 You might also try online scans in the meantime. A particularly good one is Kaspersky WebScan. Whilst it doesn't remove anything, the scan itself is excellent and with the necessary expertise, any found threats can be removed manually. Note: you will need to use IE for this, it won't work with FF. If you do run this scan and need any help analysing its results, post or attach it here and I can look into it. You really need to get a new resident Anti-Virus or update your subscription. In a matter of days a brand new variant of something already particularly nasty can be in the wild, let alone over the course of a whole year. As linked above, NOD32 is one of the best on the market, as is Kaspersky, but they cost, so Avast or AVG would suffice as free options. Spybot Search & Destroy is also worthwhile but will not be anywhere near effective without an Anti-Virus alongside it. Keyloggers - Tenacity - 05-28-2008 well I updated my subscription to Trend micro PC-Cillin and it found 6 things and subsequently threw incendiary grenades at each. Hopefully I'm good now... Keyloggers - Mere_Mortal - 05-28-2008 Excellent, hopefully you should be good to go now. If you still have problems after this, let me know if you need any help. |
