Not Freelancer related help needed - Makc_RU - 10-21-2012
I am using: postimage.org site to host images that i do for people here and some other forums. Today I could not log in to the site. At first I was given Gateway time-out error, then i was given Can not Connect to the database error and now i am getting Site is not Available error.
I am in US, i asked people from other countries to test the site and it works for them. I tried using proxy server and the site seems to be working.
Can someone explain me me why I can not log in? Have a been banned ? Did my ISP block the site? Is there something wrong with my PC?

sounds like they've exceeded their bandwidth or have gone bust.
you -did- have back ups, didn't you?

I do, but it is not the point. People from other contries can connect, i can also connect by using a proxy server. When i try to connect directly by typing url into my browser, i get an error.

have you tried a who.is search - it looks like their account is suspended.
accessing it via a proxy might mean that you're just picking up a mirror of the content, and not the actual site.
have you tried a direct ping or a tracert of the ip address?
if you can get access, suggest that you dl everything to a back-up storage site, just in case

I can access the site, but I have no account there, it seems to me it might be a browser issue, have you tried a different browser? if you still can't log-in, try contacting them, although that means accessing the site from I can see.
I use image upper or photobucket for image uploads.
As for the Whois, I ran the check and it's registered until 2015

. I am affraid that my art might be lost. I do have scattered on CDs though, just pain in the ass to gather it back up.

this is useful tool to check if the site is actually down or it is your problem only.
Also backup your stuff always, internet storage fails sometimes, especially the freeones like postimage

I would use a more mainstream service such as Photobucket or Imgur
