I suppose you heard about star citizen but I haven't seen a post related to Elite 3.
David Braben is looking for £1.25 million on kick starter to develop elite 3.

Actually it would be Elite 4. Original game had two sequels already.
I don't know about this one. I suppose I should be excited but I'm skeptical about it. We've heard about Elite 4 in development for several years but we have seen nothing about it, no screenshots or anything. Neither this kickstarter got anything to show. Besides I remember one heck of a drama between two original developers (David Braben and Ian Bell). Original Elite was a masterpiece, no doubt, but the sequels had so many bugs. It would certainly help if they had anything to show.

Yeah, I'll stick with Star Citizen. I think they'll have a very hard time garnering any enthusiasm when Chris Roberts has already tapped the genre the month before. Very bad timing.

Chris had an early build of the game to show and a very nice trailer, plus there was a basic gameplay demonstration at GDC too. Better yet he continues to provide more and more detail, ranging from lore to tiniest gameplay mechanics and technical implementations. I'm afraid David Braben ain't being smart in his approach to crowd-funding, I would have waited till Star Citizen crowd-funding campaign was over and taking time to prepare a good pitch presentation for the project, at very least dusting off concept art and getting it all together. Though still a lot of people will donate on sheer nostalgia alone, all without having any idea how it will look.
I would be more enthusiastic about Volition making Freespace 3.

It really depends how it would play out, if SC goes after profit only( what I think they would do-understand easy and no skill based PvP with a lot of mass/idiotic stuff like EvE) Elite would be better option.
However I doubt that they could get the money to make it, he saw that SC got some success and wanted to use the hype to get some monez.

Already paid 20 bucks. Braben and Roberts returning to the sceneat the same time? Project Eternity coming as well? Baldur's Gate EE? God, 2012 is an old gamer's dream =D

If I dint still had RL, and knew what Baldur was, 2012 woulda prolly screwd me over. Thank gawd!
