Disco's future - ThatPirateGuy - 12-04-2012

Well, since Disco more or less has a defined end time now. Any of you think there will be some kind of story wrap up that'll happen before star citizen is released?

RE: Disco's future - Timbuktu - 12-04-2012

Any idea when it will be released?

RE: Disco's future - pitockm - 12-04-2012

well....if RSI let the game in hand of mod's and put a free source around.....yeah it can End Freelancer...Not Disco imo.

RE: Disco's future - Strichev - 12-04-2012

We may see disco-like characters running around in Star citizen, perhaps even some faction networks will be preserved, however I don't see any possibility for modding of the star citizen to take place on the scale required to re-create disco.

RE: Disco's future - Timbuktu - 12-04-2012

tbh I wouldnt miss disco much if there was another free rp space sim with high player numbers. Anyone know if playing Star Citizen online will be free? Or even the game for free like world of tanks?

RE: Disco's future - Hidamari - 12-04-2012

some say the if the game is moddable enough, discovery will just move to RSI anyway.

that would make me sad though. i actually happen to like this game, flaws and all.

RE: Disco's future - jerkovile - 12-04-2012

well i read some FAQ there and i see that we need just buy the game (for now) but didnt see that we will need to pay for play i hope not Smile

RE: Disco's future - AeternusDoleo - 12-04-2012

We'll see what's what. If there's a strong enough playerbase Disco will prolly remain around for a bit yet. The launch date of Star Citizen isn't set and I don't know how moddable it is - but moving Disco to a better engine is something on the longterm wishlist. The current engine simply can't handle the player load that this environment wants...

You purchase the game, that's it. They will offer ingame microtransactions on ships and stuff, but you can also earn the ingame money to purchase them without real currency.

I doubt that, as it is. Disco is already dying.

RE: Disco's future - Narcotic - 12-04-2012

I'd say SC will be released earliest in 2014.
Though I'm having low expectations for that game to be honest.
But if there'll be a serious Roleplay server with a nice community, and Discovery won't be anymore, I'll consider to give it a try.

Discovery dies and gets reborn every day.
