Disconnecting at range... rule violation or just dirty? - candytripn - 02-10-2013

So, I tried my hand at pirating for the first time.. and well.. it hasn't been going well.. most people don't say anything and just fly off. I don't really want money.. just to rp it out.

Anyway, I stopped this transport and started asking for handouts.. he says wait a second.. so I do. He then takes the trade lane, go figure.. so I go to follow. After I exit at the other side, I see no sign of him.. anywhere.. I went to chat to him to compliment how fast he escaped, only to find he had already logged off. I know you can't F1 out during a fight or pvp, but can you once you start running?

Sounds like a clear case of abuse to me. If you've got screens, submit a report. At the end of the day, he was F1'ing to escape an ongoing encounter. It's no different to F1ing in a jump sequence, which will also get you sanctioned.

Problem is.. only screen I have shows our chat, and him not on the list.. doesn't say anything like so and so is cloaking.. I'll submit one.. just don't want to waste admins time if that's not enough. Thanks for the fast response Smile

Maybe he docked some place and then logged off, in that case then thats alright.. but if not.. follow jammi ^

Sounds like you need to learn how to use CD's better, and shoot out tradelanes before traders can jump.

Tor report an "f1 out on interaction" you need the green cloaking message. If you find his Ship without shield, shoot his equipment off and grin while moving on.

Not true. So long as we can see there's been a disconnection during an encounter, the F1 report is fair game. The green message is simply the easiest way to do that - a good example is something F1ing during a jump sequence. No green message is presented, but we'll still give anyone who tries it a hefty slap.

If there's no green message about engaging cloaking device, no sanction can be applied?

What about this situation then: ship docked to gate and then press F1, while her follower's still in hyperspace?

That is very much so sanctionable, you don't NEED the green message.

Ye, sorry, I should have been more precise.

The point is: It is damn hard to prove that someone F1ed without a green message. Takes a lot of paranoia to take a timestamped screenies all the time... and you would need one to make a conclusive report. It's likely that you miss many piracy targets just because you are busy taking screens... it's also no fun.

Frapsing might be the only real way that really creates the material you would need.

So the best way is... shake your head and move on to some better interaction.

Good luck in finding better interaction than the "F1"ing type.
