Drivers help - DragonRider - 02-24-2013 Hello there. I have a bit of a problem. Yesterday I re-installed my PC (WIN XP SP3 32bit). I installed all the drivers (video, audio...) except for the motherboard. I'm not sure why this happens, probably because of my WW2 PC, but it seems that after I re-installed it, most of the programs have a tenancy to freeze... alot. I though that was because I'm missing a motherboard driver. The CD containing that driver/s was... out of order. Anyway, I went to ASUS's website to look for the driver/s. And I got here. http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5LD2-X/1333&p=1&os= After I selected WinXP I was greeted by several options: Qualified Vendor List (1) BIOS (6) BIOS-Utilities (3) Chipset (2) AUDIO (3) LAN (3) Utilities (7) I'm not really aware of what this things are and what they do. Well. except audio and lan. Those are self explanatory. I tried to install Bios and Chipset but i got some .ROM files that I coudn't open. Even trough I used Daemon Tools. For those of you that are still here and understand my problem, I kindly ask for help on this subject. Thank you in advance. RE: Drivers help - indy.miner1 - 02-24-2013 1st steps when reinstalling is BEFORE any other drivers is to install motherboard drivers 1st then let xp or if you have cds/dvd is install those, xp can have probs when installing drivers befor the main MB drivers. i normally do is this for an XP machine:- install xp install motherboard drivers 1st ( and enough to get onto the internet) let xp do updates (can take some time depending on your xp version) if service pack 2 not part of your xp install, let it install infact just let it do its own updates then see if things work fine RE: Drivers help - utrack - 02-24-2013 You need the Chipset drv. If you got problems with either sound or network too - get Audio/LAN RE: Drivers help - indy.miner1 - 02-24-2013 (02-24-2013, 04:33 PM)utrack Wrote: You need the Chipset drv. If you got problems with either sound or network too - get Audio/LAN exactly, the chipset drivers are what your motherboard needs to sort things out, without them your comp will struggle to understand what its being told to do, hence the lag etc always do motherboard drivers 1st so it knows what to do |
