Swering Vs. concequences - roadrunner - 06-20-2008
I have looked at the last days sanctions. and i see that allmost all players that got sanctioned for swearing got banned, and then one got sanctioned for swearing and did looses cash and guns etc. but no ban. ??
why the difference swearing is swearing.
help me i might be a slow thinker.

dunno - maybe there are different levels of swearing. however, its safest not to try to check out what swearing "only looses you the guns" - instead ... no swearing at all works perfectly fine. - its not too hard;).

Well I didn't read the details about that guy. But there are ...differences for example..
When you swear someone about his familiy bla bla , and that someone reports you = Ban (I'm sure of it)
When you call someone Noob,Stupid,etc , this is swearing too ,but in a less agressive way so it = Sanctions like all cash is gone,weapons,etc , no ban

There's two different types of swearing:
-Swearing to insult or attack someone
and
-Swearing because your character would
I do the latter half quite often, my junker captain has the vocabulary of a trucker. Things like:
"Bloody xenos!"
"Damnit, this scrap field is bone dry."
etc.
Even my order character occasionally swears at the npcs around toledo "Damn bounty hunters are persistent today" etc.
Swearing to attack someone, like "$&% you! Why'd you shoot me you $&%*ing #&$%%#" is not ok. You're using it to verbally attack someone (and it's out of character/RP, on top of that).

I am sure that each case is unique, and there are many details that we do not know about.
Perhaps the person does not speak English well and did not realize it was a swear word.
Maybe in some situations it could have been a typo.
Maybe the person realized what he has done and apologized..(screenshots of chat, whatever)
Each case is ruled fairly by the Admins..(there is no "standard" for every Admin to punish a certain way)

According to the rules, swearing gets you from 7 to 14 days on Banlandia. But, it depends on what you say.
Its not the same to say "sh*t" than to insult ones progenitors.
Either way, we have to discuss on the different swear levels and its punishments.

No, swearing is when you use Swear words, what you discribed is an Insult but its not swearing.

Thats not a swear word. Its the exact same meaning as "Crap" which is definatly socialy acceptable(See www.dictionary.com for definitions, they both mean the same thing).
