A Tau-117 related event - discussion thread. - Johnathan Nox Carter - 04-27-2013

Greetings, fellow players.

Upon some recent mini-events and other deliberations, i've come with a small idea to create an event which will focus on the system of Tau-117. The point of this thread is to discuss the topic and reach some decision, hopefully also arranging some action in the end. Big Grin

My idea, as a start, would include the Colonial Republic (CR|), the Order (Order| and/or 141|) and Das Wilde (Wilde.), perhaps even Nomads (K'Hara|) and/or other factions that think they can somehow logically fit into this.

From my point of view - the event could have the following plot/main ideas:
  • After quite some time working with the Order and considering the Order's latest activity around Coronado - the Colonial Intelligence Service sends some of the 17th's agents along with Order agents on a recon mission. Since they know of the presence of a Ancient Jump Gate in the Coronado system but they've never gone trough due to other priorities - they are now going to investigate the system that lies beyond it.
  • After jumping in and spreading out - it doesn't take too much time for the Wilde to see them, which leads to an ambush of sorts. Some (hopefully) good RP ensues and then the agents try to defend themselves.
  • Sadly enough, some of the CR and Order vessels are shot down - the agents being either killed or captured by the Wilde - so they retreat back to Coronado.
[The said captured agents could play a role in some other future RP.]
  • Since there is no way to tell what will happen, the CR agents send word to the Military and all their available forces gather with haste in order to prepare for any nomad attack.
  • The Wilde do attack after all, but as well coming in greater numbers, for the purpose of retaliation towards the perpetrators of their system.
  • The end of the battle should obviously be left to be decided in-game.

It's not much, and honestly i'm still trying to cook up some more to this, in order to add more RP to it, rather than PvP. But i'd like to see others helping me out as well.

Now, as a last note - i'd like to say that this thread is addressed mainly to the leaders or knowledgeable people within the factions that will participate in this event; though any official member of the said factions may post with ideas or opinions.

Thank you for reading. Now, let us start brainstorming. Smile

I'd suggest to change the plot to something that doesnt involve going into Tau 117, maybe exchange it to some hardcore research on the alien gate with the intention to jump through?
The NPCs in 117 would likely make you unhappy if present, as they are rather good in showing you that its a heavily guarded system Tongue
I would strongly suggest to keep the event on the Coronado side of the gate, everything else might turn out to be unfunny for non-Wilds.

You do have a good point, though making it just a "hardcore research" would likely give no reason to the Wilde to show up in any way. Still - any opinion helps.

Though, I do still feel that some others should respond to this...

I am against having it in the Wild home system too...

Wouldnt you scare everyone away that is trying to find a way to get into your house through the front door? (Oh wow, awful early morning examples)
The Wild are very protective about their space, so every research close to an entrance to their systems should force them to act.

Then i guess we can do this by sticking only in Coronado - but still - would any of the Wilde officials as well as order folk care to respond?

Anyway - i've come up with a few more ideas and i'll update the main post later.

The Wilde folks already responded Wink

Sounds good to me. A small ambush at the Gate or a chase mixed with some "shit-your-pants-RP".

Though, don't expect that many of us can show up, so you'll have to get some K'Hara folks joining.

Hm, good to hear i have some attention on this. I'll set up a skype channel so we can all discuss it further.

Sounds interesting. Now that its summer and my schedule is freeing up, I'd like in on this (if you guys aren't opposed to my presence or a cruiser in general).
