comp lag - Vape - 06-25-2008 in the past three or so days ive been getting a fair amount of visual lag (or just lag) on FL only during dogfights. it just started on monday, and im looking for a possible source. it seems to become worse whenever there is a lot of stuff around me. i recently increased the paging file on my D drive to 2 GB, so my comp has jumped from 1 GB ram to 4GB. any problems that couldve resulted from that? or could it be a virus comp lag - Boss - 06-25-2008 Not sure. When I log on, every once in a while I get about five minutes of screenlag (Read: 5FPS) and then it goes away. Really irritating when you're in Eta in a Falcata with about a dozen Titans swarming you, and the last place you docked was Gammu. (I lived) comp lag - looqas - 06-25-2008 Whip out the Task manager while you are having the slide show. Or keep the task manager running when you start gaming and then ALT+TAB to desktop to see if the processor is at 100% and the status of your memory. This way you can rule out the possibility of HW causing the lag. You have only 1GB ram? Then it might be HD is used heavily to load up and swap textures. If this is the case then I suggest you defrag. I doubt that is your problem though unless lately you have installed or caught a program that eats up the memory in the background thus leaving FL to struggle with memory. You better check out from Task Manager how much memory is available just when you are at desktop. Those are the initial steps you can take and please report back here so we can guide you further. Does it happen only in dogfights or just having a lot of people nearby? |
