Takes time, immense patience and reasonable limits too. Problems arise when considerable inconsistency happens between say two roleplay-wise opposite characters that roleplay same theme between each other, but it's like both speaks the different topic under same name and can't get the story straight. Such things happen, nothing unusual here.

Common grounds, coming to mutual agreement between parties involved in story is what makes it more or less "approved". Though term "approved" isn't exactly correct. Stories and roleplay can be quite arbitrary. A story made and then played in game can end up being ignored by third party due to severe inconsistency it may create. Again this isn't something special, such things may easily happen.

For example you write a huge story telling about destruction of Liberty. As a spin-off story set in alternate to server storyline nobody is going to say a word, I find interesting to read "what-if" stories set in alternate timeline, they may have very interesting idea which later could be incorporated into main line in some form. However without "approval" of Liberty itself and forces that destroyed it in the example story all the effort put into the story itself would hold no merit at all in game and will be ignored in game as such.

A very brief explanation of term "powerplay" would likely be an attempt to impose a specific roleplay model upon other player(s) that compromises integrity of an existing roleplay model of said player(s), i.e. simply put: "putting words into someone's mouth". It's a thin line and not always clearly seen.

Now since this went to the topic Nomads I would like to give a brief explanation hoping it would make the situation less confusing. Originally the Nomads were not played by anyone here at Discovery, players were using them in their stories as they saw fit and in any interpretation their imagination allowed them. Lack of information and foundation lead to many incompatible stories that have contradicted each other out of the scope of server roleplay, and some completely bizarre interpretations that I read before. When stories were used in game there was nobody to say anything at all. Today things have changed a lot. There is a representative faction for Nomads which I lead and which is determined to continue development of Nomads in Discovery mod further, building solid ground for them. There is massive amount of work has been put into it already and much more to do. So yes, today it's no longer a ground that is open to any interpretation possible, yes, Nomads have player representatives to uphold their interests. Old times have gone and they are not coming back, accept the change and walk into tomorrow together with everyone or stay behind and be ignored. There is foundation made upon which community interacts between roleplay models. Terms and rules being made and smoothed out to accommodate to the environment. Finally there is comprehensive reference guide to Nomads for Discovery is soon to be published pubilcly in hopes to make server roleplay consistent regarding the Nomads.
