Is this PC a good deal?

It looks like a good deal, given what's inside, but it doesn't come with an OS. That isn't exactly a problem, though. What I'm concerned about is performance. If I buy it, I'll be hooking it up to a 1280x1024 monitor- cheating I know, but I'm trying to spend as little as possible. With that in mind, what sort of performance should I expect on ARMA III, Star Citizen (when it comes out) and a heavily modded Skyrim?

6670 sucks in modern standards. most modern games are more about the gpu. ram isn't that important, this coming from someone who's been living off 4 GBs for the past month.
want fast games- get a ssd for about the same price as a 1tb hdd. storage is cheap anyways
gpu? get at least a 7770. vram is unimportant compared to the gpu's performance, 1gb is enough for casual stuff
intels usually better for games especially in terms of singlethreaded performance, but for the budget stuff amd is fine
i mean if you really want the free games then i guess it's worth it.

Not really a "good" deal per se . . . more like the equipment is commensurate with the price. I wouldn't really expect this card to handle star citizen well, but it appears to at least has DX11 compatibility.

What about this one? Bit more expensive, but it seems to have better performance.

If anyone knows a good custom build for about £400-£500, could you post it here please?

EDIT: I've decided on a different course. I'm going to get a custom build from somewhere, and pay for it in instalments.

Take out the Radeon card and buy a Nvidia one. It'll be perfect. The first one that is.

But otherwise, suprisingly cheap setups, I always thought pre-built stuff would be more expensive.

Ok. So before the fighting over AMD vs Nvidia cards go into full swing....


The Requirements for Star Citizen (At least the hangar app) require 8 gigs of system RAM. Also, the person who said VRAM is not important has no idea what he is talking about. VRAM is /very/ important. With larger monitor setups (dual, triple, quad) all require more VRAM due to resolutions. This is also true for games that have high fidelity textures. They take up VRAM space.

Now, the big Nvidia/AMD problem. (Everything I will say below is true, unbiased and fair) Nvidia cards have less processing cores, but clocked to higher speeds. AMD cards however have more computing cores but at lower speeds. On a price/performance ratio, AMD will always win, their cards are cheaper. However, AMD drivers are lackluster compared to Nvidia cards, same goes for utilities such as Precision X. Even moreso, Some games are built around Nvidia cards, meaning they will perform better than an equal AMD card.

The bottom line is that Nvidia and AMD cards have pros and cons when compared to eachother. Throwing out a statement saying "Nvidia is better than AMD" is like comparing a gasoline powered car to an electric.

Made that statement based on the op. I wouldn't have a $500 budget if I was planning on powering 3 monitors, jus sayin.
