My question is... Why should a low quality and awfully-balanced ship become open again and cause some good headache once more? If you want my opinion, some of the stuff that belonged to 84 should've stayed in 84, and considering how neither of those ships are anywhere near the current model quality standards, reintroducing those ships to the mod would simply mean a bunch of nostalgic oldtimers would fly it for a week and think of the "good old 4.84 days" and simply forget about the whole thing a week later.

P.S: This is my opinion as a player, not a dev. I don't generally get involved in what should or should not make it in, and just stick to ruining adjusting them when/if they're added.

Terrible models with nomad engines. Made VHF of theirs on singleplayer just to test for how long it will be fun. It did not lasted 3 days.

Well those phantom ships were kept in game because other servers still use them, even though Discovery 24/7 lacks phantoms now.... can always update the models you know, even if we never use them some other servers will. We don't really have an excuse for them to look like dark gray marshmallows with spikes coming out of them at this point.

As it is a beta still i suggest making a restart for it. With a fully equipped phoom fighter to shoot in conn with. Hell why not do the Same with the cruiser? Conn only.

However, I think that with some balancing work the extra guns could have an interesting effect on PVP; the ships would have to have some sort of notable drawback, and I'm not sure what exactly that would be. My Hacker used a Slipstream back in 4.84, I was most displeased when a faction of questionable quality, juvenile concept from an ooRP standpoint, and a complete inability to properly fit in Discovery took it for their exclusive yet simultaneously nonexistent usage, and I'd very much like it back now.

However, I also like ships that don't fit perfectly into the existing categories of 4 gun LFs and 6 gun VHFs - the extra gun on the Border Worlds ships, the torpedo slot on the Surveyor LF and X-Shuttle, the Crow in general, and of course the entire SHF category is weird. Maybe it makes the balance team's job harder, but I think it makes PVP more interesting - and by extension, makes the mod's gameplay more interesting.

Frankly, if this was nothing more than a 4.84 vet wanting his toy back, I'd file an SRP request - which would almost certainly be denied, but whatever, it's just pixelmoney.
