Biography: Raised in poverty amongst Kusari's working class, Izu's early life was hard and frought with hunger. His father was executed in 798 AS as a sympathiser of the enemies of Kusari, being found guilty of conspiring to allow a rice convoy to be hijacked by Blood Dragon supporters. His mother fled with him still very young aboard that very transport, starting a new life in the depths of Kyoto Base.

Izu's father's sacrifice saved many lives, and as he grew he was watched closely by those of much higher standing. When his mother died of an unknown illness when he was just 14, he was granted early admission to Sendai's weapons development program, having shown an aptitude in electronics, robotics and chemistry that few his age could match.

Three years later he applied for pilot training, and found himself testing the very weapons he had helped develop, including the A-35 "Hatamoto" powered combat armor.

More recently, he has acquired command of an Ahoudori Kusari Explorer, an exploration craft that he has had extensively modified into a combat capable gunship. He takes great pride in using the ship against Kishiro - the very manfacturers of the vessel - as well as other enemies of the Blood Dragons.

Personality: His upbringing has made him cold, calculated, forward thinking and unswervingly loyal, taking great pride in his ability to turn his enemies strengths against themselves. Although he was not selected for Hirotada Watanabe's personal guard, he remains reasonably close to him through his duty as the Shogun's official fugu dish taster.
