So recently I started playing HOMM 3 again, after serious dissapoitment with 5th installment in the series. While that thing used to be incredibly popular in my own country, I had yet to meet someone who even knows this game in United Kingdom, released in 1999. Anyone out in this community that used to play or still plays this masterpiece?

I played it - but only single player...very nice game!
You can also give the Age of Wonders series a shot, it is similarish with some twists...very good games as well!

Yeah, HOMM3 is the stuff. It's the one I enjoyed the most out of the series, with more replayability and scenarios.
Oh, and did someone mention age of wonders 1 ? I still play it sometimes, it's a great recommendation with -some- similarities to the HOMM series.

I think I took a wrong turn at Palshife.

An amazing game, finished one of the campaigns myself and i agree it deserves more recognition, although i never had the chance of playing it online. Not sure if i can get a hold of it again in order to try though...
(While i still prefer RTS games over TBS ones, the HOMM series has been a favourite of mine.)

Good game, I still got the disks in my desk drawer too. I don't mind our new versions either. To be honest I'm probably more interested in the game engine then any storyline or setting in it as I've defeated the campaigns and scenarios long ago, most of the maps, made many of my own and countless random generations. To me it's a neat digital gameboard to play with my brother from time to time.
