Are the Nomads massing for an attack against Bretonia? That was on everyone’s thoughts yesterday as rumors of a massive alien invasion fleet circulated the civilian neural neat. The rumors were sparked by the appearance of a large task force, consisting of BAF and Liberty Navy capital ships, in orbit around planet Dover. Many denounced the rumors as just a harmless scare, the product of an over-zealous defensive policy.

Mrs. Nesbit of Newcastle, had this to say from her Penumbra light fighter:



‘These alien fellows are very rude! Yes, very rude. If you ask me sitting in a system with a cloaked ship for more than an hour should result in an insta-ban from the admins!’
–Mrs. Nesbit was later seen running around the halls of Waterloo station screaming ‘#Deletegallia’ over and over again.

Leeds

Even though most Bretonian forces had to move out of the system, the battle for planet Leeds is not over. Civilian evacuations from the surface continue undetected by Gallic forces. Recently a daring operation overseen by Admiral Richard A. Hall saw the retrieval of refugees and members of the scientific community from the planet. Armed forces personnel smashed through a weak point in the Gallic defensive lines to conduct this rescue operation. Once in orbit around Leeds the task force had to push back wave after wave of hostiles in order to provide cover for the rescue ships. Thanks to the gallant efforts of BAF vital information and personnel was brought back to the safety of New London.

Elections are being held in the Republic of Kusari for the choice of representatives in its Parliament. Casting votes will continue until the tenth of February 821 A.S. Voters are expected to give a majority win to the Democratic party of Kusari, which has been on the forefront of anti-monarchist changes in the past few years. Their most significant challenger for the seats in Parliament is the Kusari Reformation party, which seeks to return the House back to Imperial rule. So far the polls show the Democratic Party edging ahead in the vote, but this may change before the last ballots are cast. [Would you like to know more?

Meanwhile, the trade dispute between Liberty and Kusari, was further escalated today with the announcement by Kishiro Technologies of a rise in H-fuel sale prices by nearly 10%. Kishiro Technologies, based in New Tokyo, handles a substantial amount of the fuel transportation services across Sirius. The trade dispute between Liberty and Kusari began back on the 22th of January when the Republic of Kusari declared an embargo on exports of H-fuel into Liberty space. Some analysts have stated that this move by Kishiro is simply part of a pre-orchestrated Kusari plan to raise the credibility of its newly democratic government on the world stage. The omega systems continue to be a hot-spot for conflict. Recently the zoner administration of the Freeport in Omega-3 submitted a series of complaints against the Bretonian Armed Forces concerning the destruction of a corsair capital ship in the region. It is unknown what the response from the Admirality was but, insiders talk of a possible change new deal between the Kingdom of Bretonia and the local Zoner population. At the same time there have been reports of increasing tensions between Rheinland corporations and the Independent Miners Guild, over ownership of the newly discovered Omega-9 system. The system which has been confirmed to posses absolutely no resources of value, has nevertheless seen some of the bloodiest regional battles, in recent memory. It is yet to be seen whether the IMG would risk antagonizing the Rheinland government over this issue.
