That's NOT -like promised- 2 TIMES EASIER TO SUPPLY BUT ALMOST 2 TIMES MORE WORK!

(It's also NOT REALLY 2 TIMES EASIER to supply a base, just because it needs half amount of RA, it will also need Food, Oxygen and Water!)

So, what we get is:
- TWO TIMES MORE WORK TO SUPPLY and in exchange
- FOUR TIMES EASIER TO GET DESTROYED

But what was the need for giving them such rights? Were they a not so minor minority that they led protests and such? Did an evil dictator try to kill them all by starting a Sirius War? Did he get beaten by the more pure and noble houses? Was he (the dictator) from Rheinland (since Rheinland always loses wars)?

As far as I'm aware most people who felt wronged and lacking rights had to fight for earning said rights (african americans, women, anything non-white male). Of course they weren't as minor as the minority furries in Sirius are. So when did they fight for their rights and why did we miss it?

Kids and animals didn't fight for their rights, and neither did 99% of the people you named. They were given rights because the people in government decided that it's the right thing to do.
