I am running a virtual server using Windows Server 2008

In the console view of FLserver.exe it shows

Connecting to list server...
(it waits 5 seconds or so and then)
Established connection to list server...
Sending game information to list server...
(it will stay like that for about 40 seconds and then)
Lost connection to list server...
(and then it starts over. it loses connection every 40 seconds after connecting to the list server)

It doesn't seem to matter if flserver is in the firewall allowed programs or not. It does it whether the firewall is on or off.

The host = gun.fllistserver.com entry in the freelancer.ini file is uncommented.
Both incoming and outgoing UDP has been allowed in the firewall for ports 2300 to 2400.

Anyone have any ideas what might cause this?

Kelly

Why would you run freelancer on a virtual server? You would not be able to play it very smoothly. Unless.... You are trying to multi-log?

Static IP for one. And it's with a professional gaming host. They have 10G Internap lines. You could host a website with them, but gaming is what they do best.

And while I have multi-boxed connecting with my client, there is only one instance of flserver running.

Anyway, it seems like it is fixed now. Maybe it was the host.

I believe Varience thought you running the client virtually.

If this is the case, Kelly is talking about the freelancer server that you connect to with a client. Not the client itself. Kelly runs a Freelancer server of her own.
