Project Silent Spring is the brain-child of Dr. Claire Kingsnorth, a renowned scientist in the subject of terraforming and human habitation. Originally commissioned to research the effects of the cracking catalysts used in hyrdocarbon mining in Manchester, the scope of the project is expected to dramatically increase with the scope of the quantity and size of various mining operations surrounding Bretonia space. Biography: Dr. Kingsnorth, once a renowned name in the field of terraforming, is no the spearhead of Project Silent Spring research, determining the environmental and biological effects of large scale mining operations on natural conditions and on the humans employed by these operations. She was a former Planetform employee, in charge of the scientific end of the Harris colonization. Catalyzed by the sheer amount of toxic waste and destruction of Harris' existing protolife stages, she was recruited and defected to the Gaians in 812 AS, before Reunion. She is known for her dry humor and lack of remorse for brutally murdering her former colleagues. Her renown among the scientific community, even in her exile, has continued to grow as she publishes exploit upon exploit about the effects of terraforming and space-based manufacturing.
The pilot ship of the program, the Silent Spring is equipped with ablative, anti radiation plating as well as a full lab and a replica of a hydrocarbon rig, but on a laboratory scale. Armed with anti fighter weaponry, it is more than capable of self defense.

Dr. Kingsnorth reporting in on the situation with the development of the raw hydrocarbon in the Manchester System, which you know is developed by Bretonia Mining and Manufacturing, a subsidiary of our hated enemy BMM. Judging by the preliminary readings I've mined out of the Geiger counters on our patrols, the area surround Fortitudine is becoming increasingly irradiated, although it hasn't been conclusively linked to the mining operations. The cause of such radiation is likely the result of their cracking process or the venting process for waste onboard Fortitudine itself. In a time of war, the Bretonia government is turning a blind eye to these destructive processes because of the industrial materials and exports produced. Anyways, I've put together a small team aboard a modified Correo, SV-Silent.Spring to investigate the aggregating radiation. More in depth reports to follow.

Dr. Kingsnorth reporting in on the refitting of the SV-Silent.Spring. A "Correo" Class Combat Freighter, I bought the vessel for a pretty penny of a destitute corsair on the junker rock in New London. It's in pretty good shape, even though it came off the production line on Skiros in 812. It's a perfect machine for studying the radiation field in Manchester as the ablative plating its been previously retrofitted with is a graphene composite, making it extremely resistant to the effects of radiation of all types, and excellent control environment for our tests.
The test will be run with the most extreme scientific rigor studying the mining process, the processing platform, and the waste management systems on Fortitudine. Additionally, we will be studying the shielding on the BMF vessels themselves and the effect that this special radiation has on BMF's employees as well as a control group of microbes.
As of this moment we are starting out by outfitting Silent Spring with the proper equipment, med stasis equipment, bio-stabilization monitors, and various other paraphernalia. We've already picked up some of the kit. We also tested the weapon systems with the help of Sister Flora, dismantling a quite belligerent Stork.
If the opportunity, I'll be reaching out to Cryer for the acquisition of anti radiation pharmas, like G-CSF or the more military grade Ex-RAD injection base medicine.

My third report on Project Silent Spring. I am happy to report that all materials have been collected and added to the ship's mainframe. From the general schematics of a disabled hydrocarbon rig, I hired a Gallic Corporation (not a big name one) to reproduce the setup on a small scale in Cargo Bay A. Turns out that hydrocarbons are a big business in Gallia, however it appears that their fields lack any dangerous irradiation, and use a different proprietary cracking catalyst. The point being, it is not impossible for Bretonia Mining and Fabrication to find a more environmental friendly technique, even if they refuse to halt their operation.
I've taken some hyrdocarbon samples from Gallia and fracking compounds to reverse engineer to use as a control group. The Silent Spring is ready to deploy in Manchester and begin material collection although it would be great if you could include some escort pilots as the ship has to remain almost completely stationary to drill on such a small scale.
Finally, regarding finding anti radiation medication for my science team, in the case of unwanted exposure, I've decided that Med Force Enterprises will be my go to for obtaining what I need. They are a Zoner group who will hopefully be impartial to the actions the Watchers have been associated with.
