Hi, i have recently installed the Discovery Mod and started playing online.
I was amazed and invited a friend to play with me.

He installed Freelancer. It does run perfectly.

But his Discovery Installation does not even start. The game reports the file:
"common.dll" as missing.

the problem is, "common.dll" is not missing. it is there.

we tried to reinstall Discovery, then Freelancer and Discovery alltogether.
we tried it as a Windows-Admin and without.
we used the common.dll, directly extracted from the freelancer cd

we tried starting it in compatibility-mode and without.

we do not know what to do.

Freelancer by itself runs normally. Discovery does not.

Can you help?

Probably it's the Anti-Virus who causes that.

  • Agnitum
  • Avira
  • AVG
  • Bkav
  • CMC
  • Ikarus
  • McAfee Web Gateway

The solution? Well, you have a couple:
  • Switch to an antivirus that doesn't have this issue (we recommend Avast or MSE)
  • Set an exception in your antivirus for files named DSAce.dll
  • Set an exception in your antivirus for your Discovery Freelancer 4.87 folder (recommended)

There is an error in your registry. Get CCleaner and run Registry Cleaner you will get around 100~ failures. Fix them all. Problem should be solved then, don't forget to restart your PC after running CCleaner.

Ahw, sorry for no reply.

My friend is not at home these days so we were not able to test it yet.

I will of course report on how it went as soon as we tried.

Thanks for the answers already! Big Grin
