It took the better part of two weeks but we arrived in New London. While I was initially excited to arrive on location to survey the object trouble found us almost immediately. Within an hour of us starting the surveys there was a large electrical discharge from the Hyperspace Array which overloaded the relay conduits along the starboard side. While we can still continue to work using the backups it has severely limited our accuracy. Replacement parts have been ordered I fear they won't arrive before the Object collapses.
Hyperspace Survey Report EP-11825 New London - Bretonia
I honestly didn't believe I'd ever get to see one in person. A fully stable Baxter Object connection. Even more so supposedly this object literally connects across the sector. However due to the damaged array we haven't been able to narrow the displacement field to less than 150K. What we have been able to figure out is that this Object does have a solid connection to another system. Probes have been deployed but none have yet returned. further study required. This Object displaces over 500 million metric tones, almost 8 times larger than the Omega 3 Object. Additionally the Object is creating a large electrical discharge field measuring 10K across at 366 terawatts. It is recommended that shield harmonics be adjusted to adequately protect internal electrical equipment.
Things are certainly changing for the better. In recent months McCool has resumed his position of C.E.O. within Ingenuus, we've also picked up some odds and ends with regards to stagnating projects. Luckily I'm still able to steal away moments of time, especially while transiting between work sights. Today a partial survey of the Cassini Baxter Object was squeezed in while we were en-route to Freeport 12 in Alberta.
Hyperspace Survey Report EP-12285 Cassini - Liberty
This object provides evidence of an actual natural presence and growth of a Baxter Object. There is a gravitational 'upwelling' in the area a little over 12K across. This up-welling corresponds to a severe hyperspace disturbance measuring in the realm of 7.35 x 10^22 kg. While we don't have time to perform a more exhaustive survey I have earmarked this location for a full expedition based on our preliminary results.
It's not often that I get to claim something as petty as first, but here we sit. And yes I have to say we. Sean Goodman one of our researchers in the Theta system demanded, nay, ordered, that an immediate survey of the Omega 2 system take place. Especially when he heard that one or several planetary objects were undergoing formation. While I'll admit that I only was willing to bring the Aurora along in hopes of finding newly formed Baxter Objects; even I'm awed by the brutal ballet of mashing rock and gas.
Protoplanet XG-1789, also referred to as "Leisi" is comprised of a nickle-iron core similar to other formed planets throughout the Omegas. While planetary landing is impossible at this time several notable formations can be seen, from large comet impact zones with higher than usual concentrations of water, to large mountain rages composed of mainly granite. As of now this is the youngest found Protoplanet within the Siruis sector and shows signs of recent mass gathering from the nearby Muhu Lava Field. Further research is suggested for the duration of the planets formation.
The biggest downside of placing a ship into mothball is the smell. It doesn't quite smell natural. Outerspace has this slightly burnt smell to it, something about the ionization of what few free-floating partials around. Point being, when you finally get everything pressurized again and a crew aboard the smell doesn't quite ever go away.
Hyperspace Survey Report EY-20178 Kepler - Independent Space
With the recent re-stabilization of this Baxter Object, along with an uptick of Nomadic activity within Liberty proper another full survey of the Foster Base Anomaly was requested. Initial results indicate that the object has indeed formed a proper event horizon that has, so far, destroyed all probes upon contact. Mass estimates of the object place it near 22.8x10^9 tons, making it the most massive Baxter Object recorded in our databanks. While the presence of what appears to be a solid event horizon may indicate that the Baxter Object is approaching a point of stability to form a new jump hole connection this stabilization could occur quite literally tomorrow, or several hundred years from now, if at all. While there are notable gravitational disturbances throughout the rest of the area we have attributed these disturbances to regular Ingenuus Hyperspace Departures to our facilities deeper in the Omegas and Omicrons; given their directional bearings and vectors.
I might be a little late to the party, fashionably so. But we have encountered quite the mystery. Following the dark matter storms rampage across the Kepler system not just one, but FIVE new Baxter Objects formed. Three of which formed specifically just to mock me and my life's research, oh and Sean swears he's seeing ghosts.
Hyperspace Survey Report GW-139867 Kepler - Independent Space
There have been a large number of changes which are observable across Kepler. Most exciting of which is the formation of 5 Baxter Objects. However a review of the gravimetric destabilization of the regional area of four of the five Objects indicates that they are a synthetic creation being held open via an as yet unknown power source. The hyperspace shadow behind three of these Objects weighs in near to 88.9x10^16 tons, unbelievably larger than the systems original heavyweight below Foster Base (which was consumed by the Dark Matter Storm). This shadow encompasses almost 15% of the systems area (in purple) with two direct areas of heaver hyperspace shadows (in white and yellow). Given the vast amount of power needed to generate a single anomaly, let alone three in close conjunction, or the four that appear to be synthetic, would be on the order of 1x10^337 watts.
Even more uniquely the Baxter Object located in the southern half of the system is natural in origin, with the indications of a natural wormhole stabilizing towards Colorado. While further research would be needed to confirm this theory, given that the object is naturally occurring, and given its great range from the other synthetic Objects we do want to further explore the possibility that this object arose due to the forced stresses in the system caused by the other objects.
Another theory that needs to be explored is that Ames survived the Dark Matter Storm due to the presence of this hyperspace anomaly, the disturbance that the shadow creates may have inadvertently generated a subspace eddy which protected local infrastructure and stations. Further research would be needed for confirmation. I wonder what Doctor Chandler would make of this
