Perhaps I should rephrase; I didn't mean -used- by the caps. If a bomber flies out in front of the capital ship, [like a Battleship, which is hard to turn] then the cap would inevitably run into the stationary mine, or cluster mine field*.
*Cluster mine: [as was mentioned by someone earlier] would explode leaving several smaller mines in a small area.
