Prince James' personal Ravens Talon touched down on the Bretonian Embassy shuttlepad on Planet Manhatten. He'd just spoken to Commodore Lewis of the Liberty Navy first fleet, and was thankful to have found him so helpful.
Looking around, it had a different atmosphere to Bretonia, the house he hadn't left up until now. Climbing out of the fighter, he made his way into the building, asking them to notify President Powell's office that he had arrived, as well as Mr S Worthington to notify him of James' safe arrival.
Leaving them to it, he took a seat. Awaiting the advice on where to go next.
Governor Valent on his way back from a meeting with President Powell sees a young man sitting in a waiting room looking somewhat lost and confused.
Sizing the man up he notices his garments are distinctively Brettonian. His chiseled features and distinct mannerism speak to his aristocratic origin.
"Hmmm, I bet this is that new Brettonian Royal I've heard rumors of. " Valent walks over to the young man.
" Howdy there partner! The name is Valent, Planetary Governor of Houston and CEO of Sunbucks Incorporated. Ya look a little lost. Anything I can do for ya? "
" Greetings Governor. My name is Prince James next in line to the Brettonian throne. " He reaches over and Shakes Valent's hand." Well since you mentioned it, I am supposed to be meeting with President Powell. However I've been sitting here for hours with no one bothering to help me. I do believe they forgot all about my visit. "
"Leave it to Powell and his staff to slight such an important visitor. Prince James I'm loath to mention this but President Powell just left to attend a fundraiser. That Yankee seems to be far more concerned about filling his election coffers then anything else these days. "
Upon hearing this Prince James sits back down in dismay." I came all this way to learn about Liberty yet they can't even be bothered to show me around. "
" Well don't fret your highness. It would be my distinct pleasure to show you around. At least until we can get you a proper escort. I may not be president but I do know a thing or two about Liberty." Valent chuckles and motions the crown prince to follow him.
James stands, straightening his military tunic, the usual garb of males of the Royal Family.
Thank you Governor. The royal guard should arrive any minute now... But I think they are getting used to the fact I don't always like to do it the old fashioned way..
Please tell me, was you a celebrity of sorts? I do recognise the name Valent, though I can't quite place it...
Regardless, please do not worry. I'm sure President Powell is an extremely busy individual. I did origionally express my concern over interrupting him and his busy schedule. This is a difficult time for us all, and as always there are more pressing matters than a social visit. I'd be glad to learn a little of your house Governor, as I have never really left Bretonia. Any information you believe might help in my stay, I'd be glad to hear it..
"Well Prince James, I'm not sure if I would consider myself a celebrity. I was the Chief of LPI for quite awhile. I left to pursue a political career as I felt I could help fix some of Liberty's problems from the inside. As Chief of LPI I saw firsthand how Planet Houston was falling into decay. Years of substandard governance by the Republic led to a multitude of social issues falling under the radar. I was just recently elected but in this short time I've already instituted several programs to put things right including several public works programs to put people to work. The unemployment rate has already fallen and if we're able to keep things up someday Houston will be much more then an industrial wasteland. "
"So tell me Prince James what would you like me to show you? It would be my distinct pleasure to show you around the government complexes. Or perhaps there's something else you would like to see?"
