Idea - Meteor showers

I had this idea last night, I know most if not all mining areas are in asteroid fields where it generally makes sense to have them. But can mining areas (just the little rocks that yield ore) be placed as mini-events, where they can simply be stumbled on as random mineable meteor showers, like a temporary version of the comet in the Omegas (positioned of course with some forethought by an admin)? I think it would be cool to be flying along on a smuggling run and notice you have stumbled upon a meteor shower rich in a certain ore.

Will probably be easier to place one object then an entire minefield,so..one big rock..
