Good you have to trade a lot to get something worthful instead of getting it for free or with complaining (or you have to pirate more). That is resulting in more gameplay, more activity and other pirates have their fun too while pirating you during your trades. Winwin situation.

Not everyplace will necessarily sell them for 400M. Not to mention, in a free-market system like PoBs, you don't HAVE to buy it. Lack of demand will eventually drive down prices, or competition from other sellers.

Otherwise, then as I already said, maybe devs need to take another look at the cloak disrupter recipe and modify the quantities a bit, or tier them for different ship classes.

Cloak disruptors are a joke.

- Miniscule range
- Lengthy cooldown
- Waste CM slot
- Actually use ammo (wtf?)

Unless they get MASSIVELY improved, they will definitely never catch on.
They appear to have been made as a mirror to a cloak, but the problem with that approach is that cloaks are in a sense "always useful", you can use them anytime even if it's just to mess about. They do not rely on the presence of anything in particular on the opposing side.

The cloak disruptor meanwhile is ONLY useful if you encounter another rather uncommon piece of equipment AND have a reason and the opportunity to actually disrupt it.

Having a cloaking message (for snub cloaks only) would indeed be a good way to limit their escape-all capability.

This. I also don't think it's good that right now there's a very limited available amount of disruptors, which are not exactly easy or common to produce them (and those that are available have a hefty price tag), but there's lots of cloaks of all type around the server right now.

Well it did take years for cloaks to get as common as they are though. Give it time and it will become more common i'm sure. However the great all kill cloak disruptor you guys long for is a touchy thing.

If you get that wonderful long range Cloak disruptor that you can slam over and over again quickly, all of these cloaks that many have pumped years of time into, both making, selling and using, become very easily thwarted...and the allure of cloaks finally gets killed completely.

Or you get the one they have added to allow a chance but not totally kill the cloak entirely. Its a far thinner line than most people realize. We're all biased a bit anyways though aren't we? I mean, they're only adding this thing to appease those who have complained the loudest over time. Then they realized they can only deliver so much without totally taking away on the other end of the scale. Cloaks were an addition to make the came more alluring to players, and add more fun. Cloak Disruptors are being added to appease [some] players, imo.

I always wondered how this game wound up the way it did. Instead of players being happy that they can (basically) do whatever their opponent does, and let things play out...they just can't accept being thwarted and always require something changed to make their preferred gameplay easier to achieve. Cloak Disruptors are pointless because they're pointless period.

I came here and started playing in mid 2012, so I've never played without cloaks being a part of the environment. I spent the first year here not using cloaks at all, finding them totally pointless in most cases. When I did run into another player that beat me because they could cloak, it made me want to GET one too, not cry for something to be added to make me still be able to win regardless. I think a cloak can beat another cloak, or worst case you go away not even having lost anything, but just didn't get a blue.
