I've been thinking over the last couple of days about potential changes to the structure of recruitment in regards to BAF|. Cashew decided to step down last night, and I wish him the best of luck in future endeavors, however it has caused me to push this forward a little quicker than I originally wanted to (so please excuse it for being so... bare).

An idea I had been thinking on, would be potentially allowing people to apply at the rank of Commander/Captain. This would require some amount of ooRP discussion between myself and potential applicants, but it would be an opportunity for some of those interested in the more RP based side of the faction (which I admit, I had generally restricted to the higher ups of BAF|). This could also actually lead to you having your own little amount of control in BAF. Be that heading up our 11th Fleet RP, which focuses on nomad removal and destruction of assets in Newcastle/Chester (A goal that may never be achieved, I don't mind so much personally. An avenue of RP that should be interesting). Perhaps you'd like to take charge with the Merchant Navy, and command our fleet of battletransports as they support Her Majesty's Navy! Perhaps Admin is something appealing to you, or maybe diplomacy? Perhaps you'd like to claim leadership of a fleet?

These are potential ideas I've had so far, nothing concrete yet. I'd like to hear from the community at large, as well as some of the current members of BAF|. What are your thoughts? Would you be interested in such an opportunity? Would you apply to it? Hell, I'd actually like to hear your potential ideas (especially if you take this opportunity). Based on the opinion, I will make a choice whether to implement this, or not.

Thank you for taking the time to read this
~Joe

I like this idea. Maybe first military faction I would join for RP. (Sorry KNF and GRN, but no RP just Pews D: )

Good you mentioned something like an ooRP interview, but some people might say "Skype friends". I would do both ooRP and inRP interviews so he/she could prove their quality.

Just my own idea!

Perhaps I should expand a little on the thoughts of a "ooRP Interview". Yes, there would still be a inrP part to it, whether that's transferring fleets or whatever would be something to decide on in the ooRP discussion. It would also allow me to get a feel for the person, and review some of their RP content (whether they have RP stories I can read through, or even "references" if you like). I guess there would always be accusations of such yes (especially as there are a few individuals I would have to say no to (and I won't name names) but that should never become a problem). Whether I get on with someone or not, they still have to prove their RP ability and, just like the lower ranks, prove they are able to keep their character separate from their player actions for this kind of position. Think of it as an alternate recruitment process, still following the same idea's as what has been standard so far.

Thank you for your interest!

The idea as it is looks fine and suitable for adding in experienced members to the faction. Typical examples would be former high ranked members of other military factions or lawful PMCs/factions that assist Bretonia.

However, the problem remains in whether the other members of the factions would take adding someone new to the faction very kindly, and it happened before in BAF if you recall it.
Unless such problems get a solution, the idea would make internal conflicts between members if you know what I mean.

What you're suggesting is giving anyone a tagged capital ship. That's all.

Also the color and styles you people are using are annoying to read.

Well this is one hell of a good idea. I would love to have more RP then Pews, which in my current factions i fell the lack role-play..I look forward to the moment when you will be doing this.

Ninja-ing ppl into faction is simple name for what you're talking about, I guess. It's normal, it's common, it's good. You fly, you meet someone, you want him in faction.

But, you are not meeting a lot of ppl in space lately, right?

But others do. It's enough to have new ones in BAF chat before applying to BAF. So you could meet them there and say who can pass forward to faction, apply, pass the test and tag his/her ships. You need new ppl in some pre-BAF trial faction and keep your eyes on them on skype. You already have BAF|A, but those are future BAF Kirk/Crecy captains and are interested in pew. Cuz where are they coming from? Conn and/or battles.

You need more ppl from in-space RP encounters. That means BAF should do more search, like RP patrols leaded by your capable RP-ers, no matter of rank. Or even BIS can do it for BAF.

This has actually crossed my mind, which is why I welcome the opinions of BAF| members here as well. I should point out that I don't particularly see why some people couldn't apply for this that are already in BAF| too. At the moment, it's still an initial idea effectively, so nothing is set in stone yet.

Not nessacerily. You can do that with the Auxiliary already. This is more for those interested in the RP aspect of the faction. It is a good point though, and is partly the reason for the ooRP interview. Hopefully I'll be able to filter out those just looking for a cap. That's not what I want from this.

In some ways, yes, I suppose you could call it that.

This is effectively what the Ensign rank is for. I doubt we would need a sub-faction/indie group to redo this, not to mention that we have no questionaire currently beyond whats on the application form/thread.

We don't actually recruit from conn. Whilst Aux was intended as more PvP focused, one of the requirements we have is that the player IS able to RP before they make it into Aux. We still see capital ships as a responsibility, regardless of Aux, or "main". (also, and this is me nitpicking, it's not just Kirk/Crecy. We've actually had people join with Churchill's in the past.)

I'm not really sure what your suggesting here. This is something that any pilot within BAF is able to do already regardless of rank or ability. This wouldn't really add anything at this time.

Thank you all for your comments.
