Modeling Question/Thought

I've got this thought in my head and I am wondering how valid it is.

Take the bow of a ship and make a small L shaped recession in it, kind of like a sandwich box.

Make the surface reflective, then put a light mount facing forward on the back wall.

Cover the open side with a transparent, maybe colored, wall.

Desired end result, a glowing surface a la Star Trek.
