Background and History

At first slated to be constructed at the Norfolk Shipyards in April 806 A.S., the Shamrock Bay was to be the first in a line of three new siege cruisers. Her sister ships, the Little Rock and Johnston, were already granted clearance to begin construction at Washington Shipyard in Virginia, but the Shamrock Bay was delayed due to backlogging from other ship requests. Eventually, the estimated completion date was extended to March 18th, 816 A.S.. This prompted then CO Commander Terrence Bradford to look for other shipyards that would build the ship.

After looking for spaces in 6 different shipyards, space-based and ground-based, Bradford eventually found a space at Baltimore Shipyard, across from Fort Bush. DSE accepted the contract, and before long, the Shamrock Bay was looking to be dream that might become reality. However, nearly 3 months before completion, the Shamrock Bay's sister ship, the Little Rock, was destroyed in a small skirmish between Liberty Navy ships and a roaming Outcast raiding party. Since then, rumors had spread around that the Shamrock Bay would eventually meet the same fate. These rumors were settled down a bit when the ship was finally finished.

Not long after the Shamrock Bay's release from Baltimore, rumors had spread around that her other sister ship, the Johnston, had disappeared while on patrol in the Colorado system. Some crew members began to talk, some saying the "Victory"-class was cursed, others saying that it was poor design planning on Washington's behalf. It is still unclear how the Little Rock and Johnston were both removed from active service within a time span of 14 months from construction. The rumors still persist.

After the tragedies that struck her sister ships, the Shamrock Bay continued her service for over 8 years under the guidance of Commander Bradford. With over 17 years under his belt, Bradford retired, letting young souls like now CO Captain Matthew Hemlock take the helm of the old fighting machine. With the outbreak of the Liberty-Rheinland War, the Shamrock Bay, originally stationed in California around the time of Bradford's retirement, was transferred to the 352nd Naval SAR and Medical Dispatch Command, stationed out of the Battleship Minneapolis. Though the crew of the Shamrock Bay mostly fight off the occasional Rogue or Lane Hacker, they frequently get to take their own command and help fight against Rheinland.

Since the destruction of the Johnston and Little Rock, the Shamrock Bay has remained the only "Victory"-class Siege Cruiser in active service, and the crew wears that honor proudly.

[Addendum]

Shamrock Bay, along with gunship Gambier Bay, are now under full control of the Separatist Battlegroup Harmony. Allison J. Hunter, CO of the vessel, maintains a watchful eye over the ship, ensuring that her stay in the Separatist Navy is a long and eventful one.
