I've decided that instead of building a ship this time I'm going to build a space station and so I've picked the Corsair Rhodes shipyard. The Microsoft developers obviously had no idea what they were doing when they were designing stations so the shape of most of them in FL is weird but who cares right?
The scale will be quite close to 1:1 (which is going to take a while to build) for two reasons: 1. It would be difficult to create any sort of interior for the station because of its relatively thin hull, and 2. The larger the shipyard, the larger the ships that can be built here.

And what do I get from my friends when I tell them about this? this

At the moment it looks like a concrete cake filling

Edit 1:
Added the "barrel", not much else to say about it.....
I can already see that this is going to be my biggest starmade creation yet. I may have made the "cake filling" a tad too thick but I don't think it looks bad. ... If I had my render distance set to maximum, my PC would probably light itself on fire because of my poor GPU.

Edit 2:
The control tower is almost complete so that's nice.

Edit 3:
Finished the basic shape for the control tower and fighter docking ports.

Edit 4:
Added some rather small but no less important details, that took longer to create than they should've.

Edit 5:
Added more details and I'm not preparing to start the construction of shipbuilding facilities, but I'll probably make all three of them the same size (the largest) to allow players to build more large ships.

Edit 6:
I took a little break from starmade but not I'm back and the first ring for the middle shipyard is almost complete.... Since I'm a fool I made it vertically even numbered which means that there is no middle, so it took me twice as long to make it because I couldn't use symmetry mode...but anyway:

Edit 7:
The first shipyard is almost complete, I just need to add a few more "rings" and details.... The shipyard is actually a lot bigger but to prevent my PC from
[Image: yh1c46.gif]
I have to keep the rendering distance low.

Edit 8:
Basic shape for the first shipyard is now complete. Because the shipyard mechanic is different in Starmade I'll have to change the shipyards a little bit and add multiple smaller "arcs" for shipbuilding (indicated by the barely visible white lights). After I finish it I'll have to make another two copies of it.

Edit 9:
The first shipyard is (visually) almost complete... Ignore the yellow lights, I just used them to mark the location for shipyard modules and they will be removed when I finish the shipyard. I am in a bit of a dilemma though... Should I remove the gray blocks connecting the "white solar panel thingies" or should I leave them be? I used them for measuring but they don't really look bad.

Edit 10:
The first ship-building facility is now visually complete (at least until I finish the whole shipyard), so now it's time to get back to building the main structure of the shipyard and copy the ship-building facilities.

Edit 11:
Added two "somethings" (I honestly don't know what to call them) which will serve as observation decks for two out of three docks and will also make up a big part of the base's interior... This is also where this station deviated from the original one for the sake of functionality and eye-candy (the round things on freelancer bases don't make any sense).

(sorry about the server message blocking the right "something")

The valor that I've built is 390m in length, 62m in height and 131m in width.... The docks are 1001m in length, around 250m in height and somewhere around 350-400m in width so yeah...Quite a difference

Make the shipyard on-scale with the Valor. That'll definitely keep you busy for a while... XD

I plan to make ships of its size dockable yes..... It's almost at a million blocks and I haven't even started working on the ship building facilities... And I think I'll make the oval shaped part of the station a smaller version of a O'Neill cylinder (this), so that should be fun.

I can already see that the biggest challenge won't be designing the shipyards but copying them to the left and the right side....I'll probably have to ask my friend who has a better PC to copy them for me because mine simply won't handle it....copying just the big arcs dropped my FPS below 1, god knows what would happen if I were to try copying the whole (and completed) shipyards
