Freelancer refusing to start

So I recently reinstalled freelancer after the original installation was corrupt, however I have run into a new problem.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and whenever I try to run the game, I see the process in the task manager for about 2 seconds before it terminates for some reason. Whenever I start it up, it appears for 2 seconds and then terminates.

I have turned UAC (User Account Settings) off to try and address this problem, however it has done nothing.

Do any of you know what to do? Help would be much appreciated!

Are you starting the game from the Discovery Launcher?

Do you have any saves in Documents > Games > Freelancer?

Yes, I am opening the game from the Launcher. I do not have any saves in Documents.

My thought was maybe an incompatible save was causing crashes. If Documents > My Games > Freelancer > Accts > Singleplayer is empty, I'm not sure what your problem is. Aside from a reinstall, I have no ideas. Sorry.

Perhaps somebody else has a better idea.
