To be perfectly exact, however, he was dodging for life. He didn't see this one coming, not in a thousand years. The old, wiry, Zoner had seen it all, or at least, most of the younger lads on the station felt that way. But Omega-41. He never saw it coming.
Undocking from the Freeport, he began to cruise towards Theta to visit some old pals on Corfu. By the time he was 20k's from the Neutron star, he picked up the reading. Years of experience told him that it was, in fact, a Rheinland Cruiser.
"What the hell?" muttered Colbane.
Why the heck was there a Rheinland Cruiser in 41? The old Zoner murmured to himself, and approached. He sent a few hails at the cruiser, but there was no reply. As he got closer and closer, he saw it. It was directly next to the neutron star, and had a enormous...contraption...attached to the side of it.
Then, Colbane saw something else. The hot flash of a superdense plasma fired from a Cerberus-class turret.
The first few rounds decimated his shields, and the next few stripped his precious Eagle of her wings.
Colbane knew that he had to dodge.
And dodge like a crazy lunatic he did.
