So, I had two encounters that raised some questions. I would be glad to have answers for them.

First, a pirate in a bomber demanded me to stop right next to a freeport station. I stopped and started typing. Two words into my reply the pirate started shooting my ship dropping it’s shields under 50%. I quickly deleted my two words and engaged him. At this point my shields were completly gone. We were figthing for some minutes when he docked at the freeport station. I was really happy about it, because that counts as a death for him. BUT after he undocket he re-engaged me. I had no reapair thingies so I docked to the freeport.
I talked to him about what happend and he told me that I broke the rules by fighting him back without a single message. I think I did not but I will ask you guys, just to be sure.

Q1: Did I break the rules?

Q2: Should I report someone who does what this pirate did?

Second, an Outcast (or a corsair not 100% sure about it.) in New York disrupted the lane and after a short conversation where no demands were made destroyed my empty transport. With hundreads of missiles in a few seconds.

The conversation:
Pirate: ANy last words ?
Me: You have a chance to retreate. (I said that because I tought I had a chance against him considering my last encounter with another bomber. I was wrong... Never experienced hellfire missiles before.)
Pirate: guess no then

Q3: Did he break the rules?

(I think he did considering both ID says:
- Can attack any ships within their Zone of Influence, except transports.
- Can demand cargo and credits from any ship within their Zone of Influence, and attack them if they do not comply.

First one:

You didnt break any rules that I can see...
he did though for coming back and perhaps not giving you enough time to RP.

Second one:

If he was a corsair then he is out of ZOI.
If he is an outcast and didnt give a demand while you are on a transport then he broke the rules.

huh wow. Pirates these days, eh?

I'm not seeing any demand in either situation. The pirate is in the wrong here, in both cases.

You didn't break any rules. The "50%" rule was always debatable as many players (myself included) tend to fire off a warning shot immediately, which often lowers the shield below 50%. Then the RP starts and a demand is issued. A pirate can't kill you on your trading vessel unless you refused to fulfill his demand (which has to be a reasonable one), except if it's a Xeno or K'Hara/Wild ID.

Old Thread but new question.

I am a trader. Pirate makes demands of me. I say no.... I run to a close base well being engaged, I dock..... That counts as PVP death since I was engaged.... So now I un-dock and wave to pirate. And leave. As per rules trader pvp death. I can trade and continue on. And I cant be engaged now!??? This seems weak. Especially for RP. It kind of breaks my Fantasy "Reality." Some simulation of a cool sci-fi reality here would be cool.

Also. If I'm a pirate and escape but dock. It counts as pvp death? Man sometime's I like running thats half the fun of being a pirate or un-lawful. But because it happened your now waiting... I get it if your ship was destroyed, but otherwise it just seems. Weak.

And any chance we could all get together and evaluate lessening that time? particularly if your ship was fine and didn't get obliterated? The 2 hours is lengthy it seems in this case. Some ships are not made to engage small armies and it seems odd to have the same time frame as one that didn't get away.

sure you can, over and over, but you can't hunt the pirate who killed you though(in your transport or anything else)

don't dock in a system that you intend to pirate, dock to a close system where after you die you can just undock and pirate again or the alternative is to wait for the other guy(s) to leave the system before you undock

as mentioned above you don't have to wait the 2h

People want to believe that God has a plan for them.
They don't wanna believe that anyone else does..

Being PVP dead is mostly taking the engagement rights from the loser. It's a sort of protection to those who won the fight against a pilot that probably docked, could repair and restock, and come back out fighting again.
Ships that dock out from a fight receive no pvp protections. It the winner's decision if they let you leave unharmed (because your dead), or to strike you again.

As per rules, traders "that docked" can only return to the system for the sole purpose of trading. So the pirates are free to pirate you again. IF you die to the pirate or anyone else, you should refrain to return to the system (and the pilot's location) where you were killed.
