That makes one of you Xoria, I still recall the previous team's attempt at "embracing change" with the disasterous New ID thread awhile back, it was a grand show of how the team wanted to give the community a chance to influence the mod. The result? Every suggestion was either shotdown or ignored (granted not all of them where good) without constructive replies or a basic direction for improvement.
The community itself is no better with dozens of good or workable ideas being buried mountains of critisism and veiled insults or simply shouted down.

To me it seems like Disco has lost its identity and overall direction, instead of looking at issues and solving them with ideas we're simply getting piecemeal parts of other games patched on and perhaps worst of all is this insideous edging towards some kind of MMO style gameplay as the addition of Player Owned Bases clearly show. (Nothing says FUN like mandatory supply runs and more negative repercussions than any singular change or addition has ever caused.)

The bottom line is pretty clear as you said Xoria, either we change or we rot. Given the previous track record, we'll be ready for the compost heap just in time for Star Citizen.

I was here through those years, and I definitely witnessed first hand the change of attitude among disco players.

When I first joined, I'd get shot at by my own faction for going "places I shouldnt" (with no real reason other than people wanting to mark out their own little slice of power). Was even sanctioned by the admins once for doing something that was completely in-RP, but which the official factions disagreed with.

Then as time went on, and I was an indy in the order (when there were hardly any order players at all), we created an environment where both faction and indy players alike had a say. The order high command came from that, and worked well for a time, until the ever-unsated need for drama reared it's ugly head once again.

Now, coming back and seeing hardly any RP at all, and seeing the quality of it lowered to ridiculousness both ingame and on the forums, I'm a bit turned off by it. I cant say that the developers/admins have done much to help keep a good gaming environment enforced, a bunch of shiny new addons to the mod dont help when you're catering to specific groups or people and letting the rest run amok.

There is still a lot of good RP running. It is just even harder to find it these days. But having the contacts to the better RP players already helps.

One just needs to be careful to not get too much of an elitist attitude. I just realized that today again where I just wanted to blow someone up because the RP was nonsense instead of trying to help like I should.

Improve it then.
And before you say why should you waste your time on that, then ask yourself why should anyone.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502
