Well, I'm sure that everyone knows what does it mean. An small NPC which pushes your ship to make a 180 degree rotate. If there are more of them it just happens more often. As it seems to be impossible to make caps and transports invulnerable to this, there's another way to prevent it. What if we removed snub/freighter encounters from a few places, like mining fields or so? Keeping gunboats, transport (with escorts) and everything bigger would reduce the amount of rotations per day. And well... Removing them from mining fields shouldn't hurt that bad, I think. It would make mining more comfortable tho

This topic has been brought up before and this was pretty much the answer.
Since Freelancer has been coded to think every player is the size of a snub vessel they will use that size to avoid you. Hence why the always hit you in larger ships.
It is very possible to code it so npcs can avoid larger ships but for that you need the ai source code and apparently Microsoft doesn't want to give it out.
Though Freelancer Tides of War have got a work around to this but they're not willing to share.
At least that was the case a while ago. Whether or not the devs have the source code for freelancer now I don't know.
