This can be worked around, though. When I actively flew caps I used to fire cerbs and prims using the "fire weapon group X" buttons for their respective weapon groups, bound to mouse keys or something. That way you can select your secondaries/blank group and fire cerbs using their crosshair, for example, and you don't need a dedicated weapon group for it.
Assuming adding more weapon groups isn't an option, you can usually make do with the current 6.

Blind fire. Bind "Fire Weapon Group X" to a key, activate your blank group, press "Fire Weapon Group X" and your weapons don't have a converging point and you have no crosshair to fire at.
