Handle name: The Fisherman , Takarabune Conglomerate

Greetings, esteemed Directors of the Wisp Innovations. I am the one known as the Fisherman, the long-standing taskmaster from the Takarabune Conglomerate. I presume you are acquainted with our company through the efforts of my subordiante Hebishima and the recent deals made regarding Akta station redevelopment. I hope your work with the little free floating critters of the Kunashir cloud is going well in your new laboratories, for they are of special importance to the industries of Junyo, the homeworld of this old man and many of my workers.

My men, and some of my business partners, have some recurrent needs that might be of your interest. During the long vigorous work of the day, accidents may happen, injuries sustained, mistakes made, and failures end up being paid in flesh and blood. Sometimes a long career results in the loss of limb or body part.

Genetic therapy and spare organ growth in lab provides the most lifelike results, but it is slow and very expensive, for many of the common folks working in factories or on the field of battle. Young lads want to return quickly to their posts and show their potential, old men don't want to end up their profession as a retired and disabled person, unable to fend off for himself. For many of these, the viable alternative is synthetic prosthetics.

I believe Cryer has some experience with robotic and cybernetic implants, as well as any artificial muscle developments that can be applied on Humans. If not, the company chemical expertise is paramount on assuring a safe medical integration of these new parts on the patient.

With wars ever so present, and the need to keep our working men and women at their top conditions, the Takarabune, and through it the whole of the Hogosha Association, would like to start working with Wisp Innovations on new development and production of affordable prosthetics and implants, from the cheap and practical ones, to the more... specialized top level augmentations.

The Takarabune Conglomerate is willing to invest on the new project, as well as arranging location for a production plant on Takkinai Depot in the Sigmas, should Akta be unable to handle both R&D and production.

Do not hesitate to call for more details. I await your reply.
May the Fortunes grant you fair winds and a healthy life.
The Fisherman, singing off.

Mr Fisherman,

My name is Nikita Nagrebetskiy and I am the head of research for Wisp Innovations.

To answer your question, we do have an answer for our people here at Atka for such unprecedented injuries, however we do not work with permanent cybernetic implants. Instead, a patient is implanted with a temporary organic prosthetic and subject to therapy with regrowth fluids. The organic material, which the implant is made of, slowly dissolves and as it does, it helps build the tissues around it.

There are numerous advantages to this kind of treatment. It's a lot more affordable than 'chrome' implants, it doesn't require rehabilitation and does not add any foreign bodies into the person's systems, which might cause ethical dilemmas for some people. Of course there are also problems - every implant has to be made specifically for each patient taking into account their tissue growth rate and other factors, it also increases the possibility of phantom pain attacks during treatment. There are also unconfirmed suspicions that it might cause increased risk of cancer in the later stages of life, however I would not put much weight on them.

This method is still in, what one could call, beta stage, as fortunately we don't have many serious injuries around here. However from what we've seen with the patients treated with this method haven't been complaining about it and are happy to have their body unaltered even after an accident. Should your injured people wish, they can attend such therapy here at Atka.

Respectfully,
Nikita Nagrebetskiy
Head of Research
