No. Pirates aren't dissapearing. Traders are.
Fewer traders, each doing obscure routes alone, means that pirates such as the Corsairs simply can't devote the time going all the way to wherever just to pirate one ship.
The long and short of it is, if there's no traffic, it's not worth a pirate's while. Pirates are around, but they're not pirating as much due to low traffic.

(As long as you don't pirate our transports, naturally.)

Naturally ... I make it a point not to pirate Zoners, GMG or Smugglers.

Yup ... too true ... and with a lack of pirates maybe the bounty hunter population will subside. Food chain ... that's what it is ... food chain. But then this is good for role play ... traders find routes that are spread out. This forces us pirates to actually find them and disperse ourselves. Makes more of an interesting hunt.

And this too is very true. The largest increase is among indies. The members of established lawful factions have vastly improved on their self-control when dealing with others. Even some of the indies (those who've been around a while) have improved here. The problem is all these new guys getting into caps before they figure out what role play is ... and the new guys that just plain do not listen to the orders of the established lawful faction.

That's true what Baltar said. And Too many lawfuls cap ships drives down the pirate population. We can't pirate in anything bigger than a Gunboat, so when we have half the liberty fleet breathing down our necks, things are a little more difficult. There are rarely pirate wings big enough to counter attack against the Liberty fleet, and when we do manage to over come them people whine about our SNACs being overpowered. I do remember one time me and the Blackbeard's.Pearl started trying to pick off the Navy one by one so we could pirate easier. Started off trying to pick off a couple of fighters in Texas, but before we could kill them both, more fighters showed up, then gunboats, then a dreadnought. (although it didn't engage). All this just to kill 1 bomber, 1 GB and one VHF.
I know before everytime I log in, I check the online list for LNS and BH capital ships in New York. If there is a lot of them and none of my allies are online, I won't even bother logging in.

I'm just hoping in 4.85 with the new capital ship will change this up a little.

He was talking about Blackbeard's.Pearl, I presume. He must have misread the post...

Maybe the number of pirates are shrinking, but to me it appears they qualety increases.

Nomaly i get away running from Pirates but, the last week two times a Pirate quatered me and i had to pay, but the both (a Hacker bomber, and a Hessian Gunboat) roleplayed talking befor and after the shooting and nagotiating, their demmands were verry high, but other than that it has been fun beeing pirated by them.

A million less for each one, and i would be perfectly happe, spices up trading a bit:)
