Captain's Log: System "Earhart" and what lies within
The Technocracy revealed a unique and troubling discovery, a system they call "Earhart," centered around a mysterious, Nomad Artifact that shields powerful weapons platforms. Our attempts to approach and analyze it have been thwarted by its defenses. This setup suggests it could be part of the Nomads' strategy to eventually eradicate us. The system is littered with shipwrecks, including the LNS Fairmont and LNS Whitefield, part of a battlegroup that vanished during the Gallic War while attempting to pass through the Alberta Supergate. Initially, I assumed Liberty concealed their destruction by Gallia, but scans reveal a different story: every ship in the battlegroup was stripped of resources, likely consolidated aboard the Fairmont in a desperate bid for survival. Tragically, no rescue came, and the crew's remains are still aboard, a grim testament to their slow demise as life support failed, a fate that stirs even my hardened heart.
Further scans detected wrecks from every major house, alongside numerous survey drones. This suggests that unstable jump holes, intermittently opening and closing, may have allowed brief explorations before trapping ships here. Could the Nomads be manipulating Jump holes and by extension Jump Gates to lure vessels for study? The central Artifact, protected by formidable shields, is likely the cause. For now, we lack the means to destroy it, so we will monitor the system and begin our own investigation.
