Spaz,

Well, can't say I wasn't surprised by this once you were made a Mod. No going back now I guess. As a former mod and admin I would just like to put forth a bit of advice for you on becoming an admin.

1) You are legitimately under the microscope now. You were before as a significant member of the community and mod, and to a very real extent, you brought that on yourself. Now as an admin, every member of the community has a right to have an opinion and voice that opinion about every move you make. I remember you way back from Del and the LR days, I watched much of the behavior that you are being criticized about as an Admin. I always felt you made things worse with how you reacted when things didn't go the way you wanted them to. In this job, you will have to keep control of your reactions and your temper. If you lose control of your temper, just once, just a little, knowing you, that will be it. You don't do anything, including losing your temper, half way.

2) Don't forget (as many admins have in the past) this isn't your community. You are a member of the community who has chosen to take on the responsibilities of leadership. You don't do that for yourself or to get the things you want into the game. Your desires for Disco now have to take a back seat to what the players want. They are more important than you now, and everything you do should be guided by what's best for them. I used to remember what it was like that first time I undocked from Manhatten in that starflee in MP (Christ, I am dating myself there, when is the last time there wasn't fast start) when I was thinking about some new feature being discussed or some new rule. (I remember thinking about that very clearly when we turned on combat in NY.)

3) Try to treat everyone with respect, even the people you don't like. Remember being an Admin doesn't make you not a person anymore, you will have the people you like and you don't. It's ok, accept it and take it into account when dealing with people. It's more important to treat the people you don't like with respect than the people you do like. It's much harder to be respectful with them, and you won't always be successful but you will find if you do, it makes everything a bit easier. (Clearly here I am not referring to Karlotta. Be as mean as you want there.)

4) Make sure you find time to play. The biggest downfall for an admin, and the way you know they are on their way out is when they stop playing the game and spend all their time admining. Play the game, it's the only way you keep perspective on why you are putting all this time into something with little tangible result. The game is the tangible result, if you don't play you don't see it.

Now, I think you know, I don't like you, I never really liked you. I think I even voted to permaban you a time or two. But now you are in the green and that doesn't matter anymore. As a former admin we are in the same fraternity now, and I want what is good for the community (even if I am only an occasional member these days) and admins not working out is bad for the community every time. All the way back to Bulldog. So even though I don't like you and I wouldn't have voted for you, I wish you the best of luck, and please don't disregard the advice because I don't like you or you don't like me. Those things don't matter for you anymore, now it's about the community.

Good Luck.

I'm a little late here, but crongrats spazzy.

Thanks for helping run our slice of sirius. Great to see all the positive energy you're bringing to disco after all these years.

Despite all the people poking you here you've remained composed and haven't stepped into the drama, impressive evidence of your new outlook.

Thanks again!

Sindroms, TBH I always thought you were a bit of a tool. But then again, the work you've put into the vids, tutorials and events is astounding, so what the fig do I know.

What's wrong with Dab? I miss the little guy.
