@sindroms

Post is regarding this http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=145464 precedent. I know that you are reading a lot of groupchats and we all know that swearing there is a common thing. Despite the fact that you have READ it in the past by yourself, people were not even warned and not person is getting banned. I'm not sure if it's a double standards or something else. I mean, A LOT of people, including me are suppose to be sanctionated for it.

EDIT: You could've at least put the filter, if this is sanctionable.

@"Sanja"
The sanction was voted on and processed as a report made by another member, who the text involved was, apparently, aimed at.

As specified in the thread, we do not process anything we see in group chats by default because these chats usually involve chatter between friendlies in a relaxed, oorp environment. While I have no right to disclose the sanction evidence to you as you are not involved in the incident, it should be reminded that as there is no written exception to the rules in question when it comes to group chat, you should not insult other members ''just because it is group chat''.

The reason why the slap was so harsh, however, was due to it being a repeated offense on the behalf of the member that was sanctioned.

The rules are the same for group chat as they are for anything else. Remember, the Admins arent' going out looking for violations, they respond to reports. Clearly someone in this group chat was not ok with what was going on and reported it. Once it is reported the Admins have no choice but to process the report.

If you are in a group with your friends and swearing takes place, it probably wont be a problem, but if someone in the group is offended, or even just wants to get someone in trouble for whatever other issue, they can report you and it is a violation of the rules and you will be sanctioned.

Disclaimer: I am not an admin, but I am a former admin and I can't imagine this part of it has changed much.

TLBig GrinR If you swear, in group or any other kind of ingame chat, you open yourself up to a sanction as it is a violation of the rules.

Also, please take note that we are now aware that the reported incident was not given full context to by the reporter and we are awaiting until the involved parties clarify this. @"Sanja" If my reply is satisfactory, I would rather close this thread before we need to call a fire brigade, unless you have further questions.

I am not pointing any fingers at anyone here, but i want to tell you something i learned long time ago,
Swearing doesn't make your argument valid, but it definitely tells the others that you lost your class and control
I believe that swearing should be prohibited and that if you lot want to keep discovery a civilized gaming community.
Those are my 2 cents, and good luck to you all

I mean if swearing in a groupchat is really against the rules, then you should probably add a swearfilter. Because everyone does it, and it's just allowing some people to heck over the others as I see. I really really really dobnt that party which reported it didn't have a personal conflict with Wesker.

Anyway, thread can be closed. Thanks for the answers.

Definitely not everyone. I for example never understood why some people find funny to insult each other in so called "friendly manner", especially when heavy insults are involved, and I never do this.

On a ragebreak. Or ragequit. Time will tell.

Closing thread on OP's behalf.
