Building on the Rat Pack's goal of controlling part of the Blackmarket I was considering making an anonymous job board for smugglers, basically allowing anyone to create a job and offering it to whoever is willing. I'll break down the idea in more detail below but what I'd like is to find out who would be interested in something like it either via the poll or post (or both if you prefer).

How Do I Set Up a Job?

Before being posted on the Board, a message must be sent to the faction account @Rat Pack titled "Dirty Work" with all the details of the job included (e.g. Take 5000 Artifacts to Barrier Gate from Crete for 500 credits per unit) along with the reward payment to a dedicated bank and a fee to the Rat Pack bank.
No time, faction or ID limits will be allowed.

Will There Be A Registration?

No, the jobs will be claimable by anyone but to prevent abuse if no delivery is made within a week the job will be open for claiming again. Anyone who fails a job will be denied taking any more until a fee is paid.

Only 1 job will be claimed at a time and payments will be issued when evidence is posted.

Who Would Control It?

The Heads of the Rat Pack at present @Jazzi, @Captain_Nemo and myself.

Why Make it?

The whole basis of the Rat Pack is to try and pull a bit of the Blackmarket from under the Junkers/Brigands/Corse which we are trying to do at the moment by dealing mainly in weapons but we also accept contracts delivering anything to anyone. However the group is small and has no allies or dedicated partners for stable income so the only way to make any progress is with subtley, and what better way than to be middlemen for blackmarket deals?

In addition to helping the Rat Pack along, the board will allow any faction to work with illegal commodities without breaking their RP by contacting opposing groups or their enemies. Police could create sting operations, Militaries could gain illegal tech, companies could import illegal items and unlawfuls could get access to rare commodities.
Naturally anything special such as showing a rival company accepting blackmarket stuff with screenshots would be done via a contract with the Rat Pack itself.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts and opinions.

I've personally been quite enamoured with the jazzi (heh) feel of the Rat Pack's writeup. Something like this feels like a cool RP idea in and of itself. It probably won't be terribly profitable on its own if the price for delivering goods is subtracted, but I am always in favour of RP for its own sake. It would also help you find associates on top of the dirt you could gather on the people you pay. Snitches get stitches, so if someone does something you disagree with, some of that proof of delivery might find its way to the "wrong people".

Long story short: I would use it.

I'm already using, although I could improve a bit more on that.
I'll try to come up with another request your way.

The Rat Pack was one of the more interesting write ups I've penned, though the theme and ideas were certainly a group effort along with the images.
As for the profits, I suppose it depends on the fee charged but I don't think it'd be more than a million or two at best though I'm open to suggestions on costs.

Peregrine you're one of our best clients so far, just don't bankrupt yourself in the process.

Good to know Jack.

I got a PM a few days ago that raised an issue that I'd previously overlooked, mainly how this Board could be abused and exploited by those wanting to ruin peoples fun.
Originally I planned to use comm posts to set up the deals so that folks could use it in their RP such as Police using it for sting operations or as parts for an SRP and as leverage for the Rat Pack, but the downside is it opens to door for people to metagame or otherwise hassle anyone using the Board.
The only alternative I could see is to use PM's to set up the deals but that would take away all the potential RP usage and generally more annoying to sort out.

Since theres no win-win option I'll put it to the community to decide what they'd prefer:

Comms
Pros: Usable in RP and SRP's, easier to keep track, promotes the Board.
Cons: Easy to metagame and exploit, could lead to hassle for those posting jobs

PM's
Pros: Harder to metagame, jobs would be completely anonymous.
Cons: Removes potential for RP, doesn't promote the Board or the Rat Pack, annoying to keep track.

I'm also looking at fees for creating a job, either a single price (e.g. 1 million) or a percent of the reward (e.g. 10% so a 5 million reward job, would have a 500k fee). What do you think?

Since this seems to have fallen under the radar, I would revive this by casting in my vote for the first option using comms. The problem of metagaming will always be there regardless of what you do. Those who metagame will do so regardless and, frankly, the simple danger that someone could be breaking the rules like that should not be taken into account, since it's, well, forbidden. Report them and see what happens.

That being said, using PMs to roleplay defeats the purpose of the forum being a place where roleplay should happen. If you'd take that away, you could just roleplay on Skype exclusively and only post the bare minimum on the forums to get an SRP. Needless to say, that is not the purpose of the forums.

Using the Comms does seem to be the more practical of the two and I'll probably go with the percent based fee to start, if its not popular I can always change it. Given how positive the votes are I'll probably have it up and running by this weekend but I'll keep an eye on this thread for any additional feedback or ideas, after its running I'll link the Board to the Rat Pack feedback section instead.

Feel free to keep the votes and ideas coming.
